"He [Harun] said: O son of my mother! Clutch not my beard nor my head! I feared lest thou shouldst say: Thou hast caused division among the Children of Israel, and hast not waited for my word." (20:94)
Prophet Aaron's (AS) example wouldn’t be bad to follow.
Yes MinMe.. that's the ticket.. as long as one doesn't force others to comply one is more than welcome to keep beards or trim moustaches or continue to abhor the use of toothbrushes/floss and so forth on their own.
"He [Harun] said: O son of my mother! Clutch not my beard nor my head! I feared lest thou shouldst say: Thou hast caused division among the Children of Israel, and hast not waited for my word." (20:94)
Okay, does this REALLY have to do with men having beards and that one should not pull on another's beard? Or is the point of this revelation the INCIDENT of Harun being agitated at his brother for causing "division among the Children of Israel"?
Someone mentioned earlier that all prophets have had beards.
Can someone confirm this for a FACT?? I mean do we know what every prophet looked like? What evidence do we have that Jesus or Moses had a beard?
Also, you have to take into account that no prophet ever before has advocated having a beard. This tells you that having a beard is not about bringing yourself closer to God, but at the most is a proposed social way of uniting muslim men. Kinda like wearing uniforms in an army...but maybe a lesser degree of conformity.
