Lajo,. Let me state it again. You may feel in your sick and screwed up mind insinuating my independent thought with a reference to ‘pind’ might be insulting, but I take that as a compliment. Instead of copping out by saying “insult to a religion of one billion people, a usual mantra of Molvis” why not tell us why the symbolic rituals, such as stoning a cemented pillar, or kissing a stone, or wearing white, are any different from a Tree having a holy place in some other faith? Does the meaning of symbolism have any meaning to you?
But look at his reply: He’s simply saying no tree is sacred in Islam and if there was, it was a Hindu influenced thing, which is in reality, true…There is no mention of a holy tree…There is a Hadith that mentions a tree in the Holy Prophet :saw:'s porch, which audibly cried after the Prophet :saw: stopped leaning against it…
But even that has now been cut because people started doing strange things around that tree…
And your response to that was an instantaneous ridicule and defilement of something that I hold in deep respect and sacredness…
Truly, you hate Islam and all those in whose hearts it burns…
Don’t overstep your boundaries or this will consume you…
If you can’t respect anyone’s opinions then don’t start arguments…The second you’ll open you mouth people will be able to tell where you’re from…Remember the Campesino story?
P.S. To all the Punjabi peoples…Please do not think of my reference to pinds as being derogatory…My very close friends are Punjabi and so is Allama Iqbal, the likes of which will never be…
But I truly wish to know which area of Punjab Madhanee is from…Just for the sake of knowledge…
Lajo, How lovely, you have Punjabi friends (I am totally amazed). Lajo do you ever give yourself lectures on your insecurities and your insatiable desire to ridicule other faiths (and now regions)? Your posts show a complete lack of respect to non-muslims, women, whites, hindus, (in fact any thing other than non-male muslims), but hey, I am in no place to give you lectures on what you believe in, and it will be nice if you kept your assole shut too. I ain’t taking no crap from you or from any other mullah. I am from Upper east side of Punjab if you must know. and you?
sure there is symbolism in Islam, any worship to Allah would necessarily be symbolic. when we prostrate ourselves before 'Him' everyday, we're bowing before nothing, because Allah does not have a physical presence, nor is he sitting in front of us. Likewise the Haj rituals, as Madhanee rightly points out, the pathar key sutoon representing satan is a very good example of symbolism.
What we dont have is symbolism to represent God. The reason IMO why symbols for representing Allah is so abhorrent in Islam is that Allah has a defined, non corporeal identity, and associating that with any one of His creations is a reduction in His stature.
(a little context.. this was around the time of the taleban’s destruction of the statues, and we were feeling a little islam-envy here in Islamabad. they deployed police too apparently (according to ammi) to protect the thing but one morning it was gone :-/ )
Some Christians (at least around here in the South) believe the Dogwood to be a sacred tree because it was supposedly used as the wood for Jesus’ cross. A Dogwood used to grow large as an oak tree with firm and strong branches, but after it was used in the crucifixion, it will only grow slender, bent and twisted. The spring blossoms are in the form of a cross with two long and two short petals. The outer edge of the petals has brown, rusty ‘nail prints’, and in the center of the flower there is a crown of thorns. I don’t know about all that, but they do put on a spectacular spring show, especially in a bed with azaleas and bulbs.
