Not sure not really bothered by that i have over three months for this trip. ;)
What does worry me is the political and economic/local climate. You see this route to Iran is very long and passes through a dangerous stretch of desert to Tabriz. I could risk it but then again why should i? There is a much easier and safer route throught he Mesopatamian platue in northern Iraq.
Oh forgot the area around Mosul is a stronghold of so called militants and terrorists. So choices are an epic trek throught he desert of Parthia, the place where centuries ago Roman general Crassus and 40,000 legionaries died or risk a shortcut through Iraq which is an easier geographical route but is also a warzone.
Oh and the Kurdish PKK rebels are also out there in the route between Hamadan and Iran/Iraq. Don't worry though i'll pull through Insha-Allah.
I will buy supplies for the trip while i'm here in Ankara, ;) I also have a very fast new bike to collect, its a suzuki gsx650 very rare round here, i should be OK brother so i'll let you know how things go.
As four miles i guess its seven hundred miles from here to Mosul maybe more. And over a thousand miles to Tabriz.
Not staying in Pakistan for more than a few weeks. I still got to go further into China, then some other countries i will end up in Malaya if i can make it then get a Malaysian plane back.
Shame is i have no camera! and no definite acsess to a computer. This is a cafe in the hotel i’m posting from.
I’ll try and get a camera though and also i better be carefull becuase i will have minders with me in some countries.
I cannot tell you my reason for this trip part of it is for the fun and adventure and part of it is a sad personal story…
Aaah never mind yaar in case i don’t make it i’m going in search of a Fallen relative one of my great uncles is buried in the foriegn soil of either Burma, Singapore or Malaysia? i have to find him and there are three possible graves. Problem is all three share the same name and province so the records cannot be sure which soldier it is. They have photographs but only with names they cannot match photographs with the unit numbers, bloody British Army clerks have messed up the papers and names!
Anyway plan is to go pay my respects to my great uncle, i have his photograph and some documents from the WW2 army records of the campaign against Japanese invaders. thats all i have to go on @ the moment.
