Bangladesh v Sri Lanka at Port of Spain - Mar 21, 2007

Re: Bangladesh v Sri Lanka at Port of Spain - Mar 21, 2007

Tri colour gone :D

Re: Bangladesh v Sri Lanka at Port of Spain - Mar 21, 2007

Can't say...in one day game...if India manages to pull a victory against Lanka..then what you said above may backfire Bangladesh.

Re: Bangladesh v Sri Lanka at Port of Spain - Mar 21, 2007

^^ Even if India wins against Sri Lanka, both India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will be tied for 4 points each

then run rate will decide who advances

Re: Bangladesh v Sri Lanka at Port of Spain - Mar 21, 2007

no you are wrong
the right thing is Sri Lanka beats BD with Huge margin like BD run rate goes deep into minus say -3 and
india wins over srilanka easily and india run rate will go around +5
and BD has to make 500/50 overs and make bermuda all out in 50 runs
which is very imposible
BD goes into Bay of Bengal
any doubts:)

Re: Bangladesh v Sri Lanka at Port of Spain - Mar 21, 2007

^^ Assuming the fact that India defeats Sri Lanka...

India lost to Bangladesh and then beat up on Bermuda....

So when they got a challenge India lost...

If I was a betting man, I would bet that Sri Lanka will defeat India given how well Sri Lanka is playing against Bangladesh, a team that India lost too :)

Re: Bangladesh v Sri Lanka at Port of Spain - Mar 21, 2007

genius...you read your post again...initially you said Bangladesh deliberately wants Lanka to pile up runs and imrove runrate.

That is why I said if India pulls a victory against Lanka, then this may backfire them. Because SL can only imrove their run-rate at the expense of Bengali run-rate. You got it now?

On a seperate note...this group B is very dangerous or like a "death group", as I said previously it's highly competitive of all groups...thanks to our well deserved loss against Bangladesh!

Re: Bangladesh v Sri Lanka at Port of Spain - Mar 21, 2007

^^ You are forgetting the fact that Bangladesh also plays Bermuda

Bangladesh can pile on a lot of runs and improve its run rate

The only losers from Sri Lanka getting a high run rate is India

Because they have no small teams to beat up on and get a high run rate

Re: Bangladesh v Sri Lanka at Port of Spain - Mar 21, 2007

Thanks for the information :cb:

Re: Bangladesh v Sri Lanka at Port of Spain - Mar 21, 2007

Dude...take it easy....think of it this way...

If BD loses to SL...then their rr will go down...
then if Ind defeats SL...then Ind rr will go further up...

Then BL needs to beat Ber by a very very huge margin to up the rr over India...and that is not very likely...and consequently...they will go in sunderban...

Edited per AQ

Re: Bangladesh v Sri Lanka at Port of Spain - Mar 21, 2007

I agree, it's not very likely.. they can't beat themselves by playing themselves alone in the field :)

Re: Bangladesh v Sri Lanka at Port of Spain - Mar 21, 2007

No I don't think so.

If SL imroves it's runrate and defeats Bangladesh, which I think now it can, then they may advance to next round even if India wins against them,

Then, mainly, it will be between India and Bangladesh based on bangla-bermuda match. Also in such scenario Bngla has to score around 500 batting first, which I think will be too much for them.

Again I repeat group B is an open group...wide open group...anyone can advance.

Re: Bangladesh v Sri Lanka at Port of Spain - Mar 21, 2007

Ditto--

Plus India must win against SL if they want to extend their stay.

In all cases it's India who has to WIN against SL without fail.

Re: Bangladesh v Sri Lanka at Port of Spain - Mar 21, 2007

What it looks like right now that Sri Lanka is going to defeat Bangladesh.

So what are the possible outcomes:

1 - Sri Lanka vs India: Sri Lanka defeats India. Then Sri Lanka will have 6 points and will advance to next round. India will have 2 points and assuming Bangladesh defeats Bermuda, Bangladesh will have 4 points. So, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will advance.

2 - Sri Lanka vs India: India defeats Sri Lanka. Then India will have 4 points, Sri Lanka will have 4 points and assuming Bangladesh defeats Bermuda, Bangladesh will have 4 points. Whoever has a high run rate from those 3 will advance. India will be at a dis-advantage because they have to play Sri Lanka and have to defeat them and then hope their run rate is good enough for them to advance. While Bangladesh will play Bermuda and can rapidly improve their run rate while Sri Lanka has maintained a consistently high run rate.

Re: Bangladesh v Sri Lanka at Port of Spain - Mar 21, 2007

Again....in scenario 2: BD did not do their RR too much good in their win against Ind as they won by a very small margin/overs...hence all they got from the game was 2 points...They will need to defeat Ber by a huge margin greater than tht of Inds defeat of Ber...and I dont think tht will be too easy for BD batsmen....

neways...why all the conjecture...Ind needs to defeat SL and only then can we say anything...tab tak all this is Bakwaas...

Re: Bangladesh v Sri Lanka at Port of Spain - Mar 21, 2007

Yup, what it all boils down too....

India has to defeat Sri Lanka on friday to advance

Re: Bangladesh v Sri Lanka at Port of Spain - Mar 21, 2007

So you still think that if Bangladesh wins this match, India will be in advantage.:smack:

Sardarji…I repeat again and again and again…whether it’s Bangladesh wins or SL wins this game…India has to defeat SL to survive.

A win by SL is in India’s advantage in everyway…already explained that Bangladesh has to make 500 something runs against Bermuda in that case..also if SL advances with India, India will get bonus points, because India will be advancing by defeating SL…

Re: Bangladesh v Sri Lanka at Port of Spain - Mar 21, 2007

Match delayed by rain
Yes, the covers are being ushered on by the umpires as the rains gets heavier and lashes across Sabina Park

Re: Bangladesh v Sri Lanka at Port of Spain - Mar 21, 2007

Correct!

now you got it right, my friend.

Please ignore my previous post.

Re: Bangladesh v Sri Lanka at Port of Spain - Mar 21, 2007

^^ now this interesting...

if match gets rained out....

both teams get 1 point each

bangladesh by defeating bermuda will have 5 points
sri lanka will have 3 points
and India will have 2 points

it will all come down to India vs Sri Lanka

So as of yet, a rained out game is not in the best interest for Sri Lanka but awesome for Bangladesh

Re: Bangladesh v Sri Lanka at Port of Spain - Mar 21, 2007

so all scenarios lead to Sri Lanka vs India
