Bangladesh amends war crimes law, mulls banning Islamists

Re: Bangladesh amends war crimes law, mulls banning Islamists

The fact that BD today is better than Pakistan proves just that. Does Pakistan has no extreme poverty, instability or has control over its borders? Why are those drones fly all over Pakistan?

Btw, secularism maybe not be perfect, as no system is perfect, but it can beat any religious system any day.

Re: Bangladesh amends war crimes law, mulls banning Islamists

How is Bangladesh better than Pakistan? Economically speaking Pakistan has a larger economy.

The IMF lists our economy has the 44 largest in the world in 2012. Bangladesh is 59. - List of countries by GDP (nominal) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

According to the IMF we are 27 in terms of PPP and Bangladesh is 44. - List of countries by GDP (PPP) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Re: Bangladesh amends war crimes law, mulls banning Islamists

talk about delusional bangladesh is a poverty stricken country with political chaos.

Every National government state website warns its citizens when visiting bangledesh to beware political violence can spark out any time.

If you are a student in bangladesh you are either awami league or bnp and they beat the hell out of each other physically on campus or on the streets with bloodshed commonplace.

So the political situation in bangladesh is volatile to say the least. the Crazies supporting secularism on here want to praise this situation wow!

Re: Bangladesh amends war crimes law, mulls banning Islamists

^^ So you telling me if it was ruled by islamic laws with dictatorship then it would be better?

Like it or not, rallies are stuff are still 100 times better then getting blown up with the entire neighborhood. Also, still bangla gets many times more tourists than you, so they must be doing something right.

Re: Bangladesh amends war crimes law, mulls banning Islamists

While BD parliament did something good, the debate has gone secularism versus no secularism.

Anyone who wants some more info on BD Govt system and how legislation CAN be done/processed by the parliament should refer to this.

Very detailed article. One should check its authenticity however.

Bangladesh - Legislature

The legislative branch of the government is a unicameral Parliament, or Jatiyo Sangsad (House of the People), which makes the laws for the nation. Members of Parliament, who must be at least twenty-five years old, are directly elected from territorial constituencies. Parliament sits for a maximum of five years, must meet at least twice a year, and must meet less than thirty days after election results are declared. The president calls Parliament into session. The assembly elects a speaker and a deputy speaker, who chair parliamentary activities. Parliament also appoints a standing committee, a special committee, a secretariat, and an ombudsman.

Parliament debates and votes on legislative bills. Decisions are decided by a majority vote of the 300 members, with the presiding officer abstaining from voting except to break a tie. A quorum is sixty members. If Parliament passes a nonmoney bill, it goes to the president; if he disapproves of the bill, he may return it to Parliament within fifteen days for renewed debate. If Parliament again passes the bill, it becomes law. If the president does not return a bill to Parliament within fifteen days, it automatically becomes law.

Re: Bangladesh amends war crimes law, mulls banning Islamists

^^^ Everything is similar with Indian system of Parliament, except the quorum of the parliament, ours is 10% and theirs is 20% :)

Re: Bangladesh amends war crimes law, mulls banning Islamists

and their parliament is unicameral

Re: Bangladesh amends war crimes law, mulls banning Islamists

Yes, ours is bicameral with president as third part of it, you can deny passing of legislature just once :)
Rajya Sabha (upper house) is little more complex than Lok Sabha :)

Re: Bangladesh amends war crimes law, mulls banning Islamists

Islamic laws are thousands times better than this dirty secualrism. Why you think the muslims voting for islam parties everytime!

Islamic state has a caliph as its leader not a dictator like mubarak of egypt or the kings of saudi arabia.

you want to call violence and murder as rallies and for you this is ok 100 times better wow you really have no clue of politics in the sub continent.

finally bombs are planted by your american friends like this idiot who got caught red handed Raymond davies take them back to miami beach or alabama enough of the bloodshed!

He would be a dictator as he comes in power in a one-time lifetime appointment.

They can’t.

My green skin is invisible to camera.

Re: Bangladesh amends war crimes law, mulls banning Islamists

wrong again dude, dictators make their own laws up and usually bought into power by the colonial powers from antagonistic nations usually United States or UK.

Re: Bangladesh amends war crimes law, mulls banning Islamists

So who makes the laws when a caliph -( who we have established is NEITHER a dictator nor a MONARCH) - governs?

Re: Bangladesh amends war crimes law, mulls banning Islamists

According to Maududi, the JI's founder (to make this relevant, as Bangladesh's Islamists are mostly from the JI and not the Hizb-ut-Tahrir) , laws that are in accordance with Islam are made by the Shura council (the group of people elected by the people to represent them, a.k.a Parliament in western words) and the role of the Caliph to to approve those.
