Baloch insurgents kill 9 security personal

Re: Baloch insurgents kill 9 security personal

You give MQM too much credit. MQM has been with the establishment and everyone it is now opposed to, Benazir included at one point or another. Cozying upto the military is nothing unexpected.

But the biggest creators of dirt rare and will remain army and mullahs. It is through their direct actions that Pakistan finds itself in the situation it is today. MQM is allied with army due to Musharraf, at least not being completely anti-mohajris like other generals have been in the past. MQM has obviously tried to capitalize on this and wrongly assumed that one dictator is better than the other. But this alliance will prove temporary once Musharraf goes his way. The same cannot be said of mullahs group, who despite being in "opposition" follow directions from agencies when ti is necessary. While MQM's connection is mostly with Musharraf, the deep connections of agencies is till with mullahs and taliban. This can be seen bow easily taliban come and go in Pakistan.

There is a difference between a political alliance and the deep idealogical alliance that jihadis within the army have with jihadis in the taliban.

You say that MQM wanted to capitalise on the fact that Musharraf isnt anti muhajir, i suspect an euphemism for saying that Musharraf is Muhajir. I thought MQM wasnt just for Muhajirs? What happened to Muttahida? What happened to national aspirations. Is the well being of Mohajirs the only consideration MQM has, leave aside all principles, injustice against other Pakistanies etc.

The alliance of Mullas with certain segments of the intelligence is an allegation. The military will deny it and the mullas will deny it. The mullas can cite the bombing of madrassas as an example of persecution by the military, and military personnel have been attacked and killed by Mullas. So it isnt as straightforward an alliance as you make it out to be.

Compare this secret, alleged alliance of the Mullas with the declared, incontrovertible, we'll kill your enemies for you alliance MQM has with the Military. It doesnt make any difference if the General is a Muhajir to the institution and its nature, it only amplifies MQM's hypocricy in its opposition of military on the one hand and jaan-nichawaring on a general on the other just cause he happens to be muhajir.

As far as political and idealogical alliances go, at the moment it seems that the military and MQM have the same ideological mantra... enlightened moderation, progressives, anti-mulla rhetoric.

I find Altaf's reinvention as a progressive laughable given that 10-12 years ago he was a self styled Pir, I personally attended one of his fund raisers and saw him being treated like a puhncha hua buzurg complete with Altaaf-naats.

^MQM has gotten dirty not because they are dirty but because they are in Pakistan, while the Punjabis are dirty not because they are in Pakistan, but because they are Punjabi!

MQM hypocracy at its finest!
