Baking Samosas?

Re: Baking Samosas?

Mehnaz I will make some today and give it to you tomorrow, with measurements et al.

Re: Baking Samosas?

500 milligrams per cup. Thats a lilliputian teacup isn;t it?

Re: Baking Samosas?

err… what microscopic cup is this that can hold only 500 mg (about as heavy as two antacid pills) of aatta?

Re: Baking Samosas?

i was wondering the same, femme.

Re: Baking Samosas?

yes 500 mg is equal to a cup. Now, i don't know what kind of measuring cups y ou guys are using.

Queer, go get a life!!!

Re: Baking Samosas?

u mean 500 GMs? Vaisay 250 grams is equal to one cup...me thinks.

Re: Baking Samosas?

i meant 500gms

Re: Baking Samosas?

i went downstairs to check and my one cup says 500grams on it :konfused:

Re: Baking Samosas?

that is one tiny cup. the usual cup is about 8 fl oz, which would be about 250 grams of water. 2000 times as large as ur 500 mg cup. oh my! :open_mouth:

Re: Baking Samosas?

Queerie take it easy on her na..

I have baked sprng rolls and they turn out okay.. Im all about fried stuff (not anymore thou)
Has anyone baked those rice aper wrapper, theyre kinda round and used for wontons

Re: Baking Samosas?

I made them yesterday. I made one pound of keema for the filling, and so obviously, the 2 cups of flour simply were not enough and I had to make more and more pastry dough. sigh I feel like I was kneading and rolling dough all the day long yesterday. By 8:00 p.m., my legs felt like they were about to fall off and I seriously needed a massage.

Anyway, I baked a few and I fried a few. The rest have been stored in the freezer for iftar. The baked ones just did not turn out as good as the fried ones which really is not a good thing. Yeah I made them and they taste great fried, but I will serve them at iftar parties … I won’t be eating them myself or else I’ll turn into a gulab jaman … moreso than I already am. :frowning:

Re: Baking Samosas?

Exactly Mehnaz. I wouldn;t reccomend baked samosas out of home made dough. They didn;t taste as good. Mehnaz allow yourself one fried samosa whenever u make em. Not like you'll be frying them everyday!
