Where are you sending the hard drive for “repair” and how much? If its making noises, its probably already dead. I would RMA it and if that is not possible then get another hard drive and reinstall OS.

Before spending money on ghost or getting it repaired or data recovery done on it, i would buy cheap USB enclosure to see if its even accessible.

The computer itself still works. I can open and access files on it. I got Ghost for sale (almost 50% off), so it wasn’t so bad. As for repairs, it’s still under extended warranty, so it will be replaced/repaired at the expense of the retailer. It hasn’t been particularly noisy in the past couple of days but it would restart (not a formal restart though) at random, so if I turn it on, I just do it for a few minutes at a time and then shut it down. The plan is to backup some important files on a USB drive first then ghost the whole thing.

Can you tell me more about RMA?
