Assalam Aleykum, topic puraana hu gaya but I felt obligated to chime in.
I'm a babywearing educator. Ager koi question hu tu feel free to ask me.
I discovered babywearing before having my first daughter in 2008. I carried her till she was 2ish. After 18 months actually, mushkil se hi maanti thi to be carried. She'd rather walk =)
Now I carry my 5 month old in wraps that I bought online from a German company called Didymos.
There are several companies that make beautiful wraps like Girasol, Natibaby, Ellevil, etc.
The advantage of wraps over buckle carriers is that they can be a lot more versatile in how you want to wear the child, than structured carriers. Also, they can be used for other purposes =D I've used my wraps as beach blankets, pardah, towel and my kids always use them as handy napkins (konay bilkul bachun ki height ke paas hi latak rahai hutai hain). Additionally, the wraps are made sturdy so there is no problem in washing them in washing machines any number of times.
I also teach people how to use ring slings, and am well versed in the various buckle carriers currently in the market.
so we picked up the beco gemini today ahead of our little vacation, and so far, so great! its super comfortable and gabe seems to love being in it. both hubby and i tried it on. it was pricey but hopefully well worth it for short trips.
edit: i tried on the britax carrier and it was SO much better than the beco! hubby and i both love it more and find it a even more comfortable than the beco gemini, which is now going back to the store.
To the OP, why only ask the ladies? Awfully sexist no? Are fathers considered chopped liver?
But i digress, I used the sling when chutki was a newborn to about 8 months, then I used a baby bjorn for a very short time and then once she was older, I used a backpack to carry her all around the place, she LOVED it. Unfortunately, she’s too big now
^ Lol, take it easy- dads are more than welcome to chime in but parenting does seem to be frequented more by the ladies, and I'm a lady with a lady's physique so I guess gettin a girly viewpoint on comfort is slightly more relevant. For eg: that backpack you got on isnt something ive seen too many ladies sport.
so sgc how do you like your Britax carrier as you are on vacation already???
the britax carrier is amazing! comfortable on the parents, baby loved being in it, and its design meant neither one overheated while wearing it. we used it in the city and to go hiking and it was great in both situations.
