unless yoyrchikd is bathing in nestle water and isnot coming into any contact with pakisani water… the chancesof the kid getting sick are still there. and its ok.
oh and if u you r takin a stock of your onw pampers and ure kid gets sick … good ouck. cuz chances r u will havta buy local pampers.
As far as the water is boiled, your child should be okay. We did not feed our son any juices (boxed/bottled). He just had milk and boil water with home cooked food. Even the yogurt he had was home yogurt. Alhamdulilah he did not get sick.
I’m back from Qatar! Alhumdulillah munchkin was a star on all the flights!!!
CB I’ve got a mama and papa buggy - the kato one in moss/grey it is £69.00- the reason i got it (after i had bought my exp travel system)was because i didn’t want to take my travel system to pak as it is too big and this one lay completely flat - my little one was only 11 weeks when we went to pak last year. Some of the reviews haven’t been too positive but i haven’t had any problems with it and we’ve actually used it more than the bulky travel system.
The mothercare Nanu stroller (£49.99) looks quite good as well and one of my friends has this one. I would recommend one that is lightweight but also reclines back fully for when munchkin is sleeping.
I understand what your husband is saying regarding buying another stroller but honestly my advice would be buy one it will make life soooooo much easier when travelling. and as someone mentioned you can pick them up really cheap.
I also travelled with Turkish airlines and was able to take the buggy up to the gate as always (they even gave me a super duper huge strong bag to put it in to protect it!) I was also given the option of collecting it for my stopover in Istanbul but turned it down as it was only a 2 hour stopover.
I’ve never had any problems taking my buggy up to the gate and we’ve flown a number of times since having the little one both international and locally.
hope that helps.
If you are really really concerned about foreign and local stuff, you can get all that stuff in Lahore as well…or even in other cities for that matter. In Lahore, you have Hypermarket at race course…plus green valley at mall of lahore is nothing but imported stuff.
Baby is still not well… Day 10 tommorow goin to a child specialist lets see.
Im using here imported pampers made in egypt. They are 44 pcs in 1250 but they are good quality. Local ones are 64 pcs in 1550.
Will post in a few days plz pray for lo
Heydou where r u ? In isb? Go to ihs hospital. Its childrens hospital. See dr tanveer. He is good and sits from 7-10 pm. Try to get an appt otherwise you can do walk-in. 051 2299696 is ihs no.
CB, not sure if you already visited Pakistan but i have traveled with my LO twice to Pakistan and Alhumdulilah he was ok both times. The first time i took him, he was only 7 months and i traveled alone. I got a baby carrier, saved my life. I took all the formula from US (premixed stuff, no need for water either.) I got bottle steamer bags and steamed his bottles everyday (using bottled water of course.) I even took bottle cleaning brushes and soap from here (both times.) And i cleaned and washed his bottle…not the cleaning lady.
Second time around he was 1 1/2, and we got a travel stroller…again a life saver. This is the one i got: Graco LiteRider Stroller - Odyssey - Graco - Babies “R” Us. I highly recd. this stroller (we traveled to Turkey as well before going to Pakistan…and the stroller was perfect for that trip.) We took his powder milk from here and used bottled water in Pakistan (he didn’t get sick Alhumdulilah.) We mostly stayed home and fed him house food…didn’t really go to too many restaurants.
-both times his doc. gave me diarrhea medicine from here (powdered form and you mix water if and when you need it.)
-both times i dressed him in his one piece PJ’s and that was very comfortable for him…i didn’t have to worry about socks, jacket etc.
-both times i gave him tyenol before and after landing and let him suck on his pacifier too.
-I packed his food for the plane ride with me
-I packed few new toys for him for the plane ride
-We didn’t let him out from the seat area (i knew once he found the aisle there would be no returning to his seat.)
***FYI …if you are traveling with a toddler, my experience with the bulkhead seat was horrible. On our flight from Turkey to Karachi, we got the bulkhead…think we can use the front leg area for play area. Which workout great for when my toddler was playing. I put down a blanket, gave him some toys…great!. BUT when it was sleep time, he couldn’t sleep seating in his seat and the arm rest don’t come up. I had to carry him while he slept for 6 hours…I was in pain. I dont’ recd. that to anyone..
The first time around, i also pumped on the plane and had the staff look after him while i pumped. ( i never used that milk though.)
hope all this helps.
when I used to travel with my son main things were his formula, emergency meds, and his bottles, bc he didnt know how to drink from any bottle other than dr browns(the ones for colicy babies), I used the filter water from home boiled it for his use, boiled his bottles myself and air dried. Also dont hand over the child to the girls that family hires to play with kids, who knows what they carry. Sounds rude but honestly you never know, even if you get them to clean and wash themselves everyday. I had a problem with diapers I used huggies here but when I ran out the huggies I bought there leaked like crazy. So I tried couple of other brands and found one that worked, same story with wipes. On one of the trips in last 2-3 days of my trip I ran out of formula and I went crazy he was just 5 months so I couldnt feed him other things bc formula was still the main source of nutrition. My son was on good start here so I found something closest to that bu nestle aur Allah ka naam le ka I started. Allah ka shukar hai he was fine.
The thing is unless your child gets sick nothing is end of the world, just dont loose your cool and look around for options if need be. Good luck.
Thanks so much for all your continued support. I am in Pakland now and Alhumdullillah all is going well.
The flight was aweful .. Even though Emirates did give baby food and Cow and Gate ready milk pack , along with a sterilized bottle .. my kid was totally on an exploration mission all through the flight. I didnt need the bassinet at all coz he never went to sleep ! I had him wear the child harness that kept him at arms length to me .. it was a life saver ! and I got a baby sling for use at the airport, it was an awesome buy as well .. kept the baby safe and warmly tucked next to me and I had both my hands free to tackle security and baggage checks ..
I’m travelling to Pakistan in October with an 11 month old (iA she will be at the time) and this thread has been so helpful! Thanks all of you for your contributions
Easy option is to use the baby sling. I got one from ASDA I believe , chose something mediocre in price range , nothing too fancy and my son was 10 months when I travelled on a long haul flight.
It did me so good , coz they took the pram away at the gates and after that it would have become impossible for me to manage the baby + the luggage if I hadnt had the sling with me !
Also in Pakistan , the sling really helped on outdoor trips and walks ..
anyone know where i can buy the Arnywear fabric from in the USA or online? i tried their website Arnywear - Large Deep Pink but seems like everything is out of stock :(. ** **
