The obsession with skin colour is a real flaw in desi culture. I wish people would would put their beady little nit-picking eyes on honesty or kindness or something that really matters.
When we were adopting from Pakistan, they said, "Oh, you will want someone fair?" And how could I explain that in America, if you're even a small part coloured, you're coloured, so it really doesn't matter what the grade/shade is. Like Obama is a "black" man - he is as much white, is he not? My answer was that I wanted someone with black hair, big ears and chamkili ankhen. And normal intelligence.
Among my nephews, the one who has the sanwala skin tone is the most charming and attractive one .. and trust me, his brothers are as white as a paki can get, yet HE stands out in a beautiful way! So gora chitta doesnt equal beauty!
I think it's just your harmones that are getting you worked up over this. What difference does it make. My son is as fair skinned as can be and my daughter is sanvli. A lot of people keep on telling me if your son was sanvla that would have been okay. YOur daughter should have been the fairer one. I tell them she's still prettier than any other kid I'v ever seen. AT time I even tell them she's still prettier than yours. Call me rude!!
This is really upsetting. Please don't do anything to change her skin color.
Like other people have said just thank Allah that you have a healthy baby Masha'Allah. Remember fair skin does NOT automatically mean the person will be beautiful. Please don't let your daughter grow up thinking she's somehow not attractive just because of her skin colour, it'll destroy her self esteem. She will need you to instill confidence in her as she grows up because in this day and age a girl's confidence can be lost so easily.
Also, tell those nosy relatives to get lost and mind their own business. Your baby is beautiful regardless of skin colour!
