The original Bhutto; that is Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto had the charisma to rally people. People cheered for him, came to vote for him, and believed in his ideology and slogan(s). He created a lot of diehards. Then came Benazir Bhutto, and she came at a time when the crowd needed a jolt of similar kind. She did that, and crowds came out for her as well. Filling the streets and trumpeting competition.
Then there was a period of political ping-pong. Then a deep freeze, and then Zardari happened. Reason, I say he happened is because it's quite tragic from a party point of view. The sequel was successful until his release. Him becoming the party-head is almost akin to taking an A-Lister out of the game and replacing that A-Lister with the guy that is happy to have one cartoon published within the classifieds section of the paper. It's tragic really. A party that had so much hope, to go down this way.
As for Bilawal Zardari, I sense him to be Father's son more than Grandfather's prodigy. But Pakistani politics always keep things interesting, and there's usual a curve ball every few years, so anything's possible.
