baby asleep in bouncer/swing - is this ok?

Re: baby asleep in bouncer/swing - is this ok?

I still cant wrap my head around letting the baby sleep on his stomach! It may be good but I dont see myself taking the risks! I will try the supervised tummy time but not sleeping just like I cant risk having him sleep in our bed while otehr people feel very comfrotable with it.. we may crush him!!!

Re: baby asleep in bouncer/swing - is this ok?

tumharay midget nay tau saray record toRay hain, mA! of course he would have been stubborn about this too!

gtg......always do what makes you feel comfortable.....never try something that you don't feel is right or good for you or your child as doing so will undoubtedly lead to some sort of mishap (Allah na karay) that will reinforce your belief and leave you feeling guilty.

Noor slept on her belly most of the time. She was sleeping in my bed at 1 week old because the c-section wound had become badly infected from exertion and I couldn't get up to get her from the crib for feeds and changes. Of course hubby had to move to a different bed to allow her space.

Re: baby asleep in bouncer/swing - is this ok?

My kids never sat in bouncers. We got one as a gift and it was never used. They loved their swing that could recline so for short naps it was OK, but like everyone above mentioned, you're better off with a flat surface.

Re: baby asleep in bouncer/swing - is this ok?

khawa, jeez, i wonder if thats a big baby thing cos mine does the same! he's always burrowing head first into everything to sleep!

Re: baby asleep in bouncer/swing - is this ok?

Mine did it cuz he hated light...je wanted it to be dark in order to sleep.... If he couldnt find a corner to bury his face in...he would simply put hos hands over his eyes haha....i think i have a pic of it too...

Re: baby asleep in bouncer/swing - is this ok?

My cuz puts her baby to sleep in the car seat (in the home)cuz the doc said until 6 months it's ok as kids r used t that curve position.she did that for all her kids ,the eldest is 6.

Re: baby asleep in bouncer/swing - is this ok?

hrm, we were looking into road tripping with the kidlet, but i'd read that kids aren't supposed to be in car seats for longer than 2 hours at a time ideally... maybe thats an overheating thing though. our kid gets really hot in his car seat.

Re: baby asleep in bouncer/swing - is this ok?

You'll probably need to take break for feeding or something anyway.

Re: baby asleep in bouncer/swing - is this ok?

if thats teh case how are we going to get them used to the long road trips? My husband and I have the Summer 2012 planned out with lots of road trips and we are hoping we would have trained him by then!!

but yeah lots of breaks should be fine.. I wonder how long teh break should be?! like during my pregnancy when we did long road trips (not many, just a few) we pulled over at each rest area, stretched our legs, used the batrhoom and continued.. it varied from an hour and a half to 3 hours in between breaks!!

Re: baby asleep in bouncer/swing - is this ok?

^ i think it'll depend on how often he needs to eat and how long he takes to eat! because you can't feed them- nursing or bottle- in the car seat and you can't drive with them out of the car seat. well, i pull over for bottle feeding too because sometimes he gulps and then gags and i can't get to him quickly if he does that and he's strapped in.

Man same with midget...his back would be soaked! I put a cotton sheet under him and he would wear just a onesie... That helped a little bit.

Re: baby asleep in bouncer/swing - is this ok?

I am taking a vacation with baby and hubby. We drove for 12 hours. My baby is still small. We made frequent stops. I made sure I changed his diapers, fed him, took him out of the car seat. I put him on his back for the time we were taking break from driving. Husband would hold him and walked around the rest area. MA we had no problem at all. Just make sure you take breaks or else the baby gets so cranky the whole trip would be ruined. My baby didn't had to cry to take him out of the car seat. We stopped every 2 hour or so, before he even starts crying. Once they cry, its hard to soothe them
