AXACT (Bol TV) making millions by selling fake degrees/diplomas: NYtimes exclusive

Re: AXACT (Bol TV) making millions by selling fake degrees/diplomas: NYtimes exclusiv

You missed one very important difference between Mr. Sheikh and Malik Riaz, Zardari etc.

Wut Axact ownership was involved in, could be some national scams or domestic frauds as well but Declan Walsh didnt highlight that nor his tax detail or anything. What was actually the focus of his investigative report was how big of a "international" scam is, especially when it involved all the big and powerful universities worldwide. People from all around the world go crazy to get admission in such schools but here there is an institution who is selling the fake degrees using the name of these super esteemed educational institutions. And now we have Saudi Princes buying degrees from Axact instead of actually taking admission in Columbia or spending time over there. That my friend creates the entire difference.
So not only the pressure comes from the resourceful universities but also from its legally graduated diplomats who are serving on a major scale all over the world, And what you saw in 2 days is a result of this pressure. I'm sure even if they start same operation in Nigeria, they'll be busted in the same fashion. Imagine, they found a fake seal of foreign office of USA. You can easily guesstimate how powerful they had been in last decade.

I can bet my money that today Zardari or Malik Riaz or anyone start similar international scam, they'll be busted as well. Similarly if Mr. Sheikh runs away from Pakistan, I'm sure interpole will jump in quickly to hand him back over.

Look who has jumped in to save Axact

Whether Axact did anything wrong or not isn’t up to GEO, ARY, SAMAA, DUNYA, DAWN to decide but up to courts..#Shutupmedia](https://twitter.com/hashtag/Shutupmedia?src=hash)

Re: AXACT (Bol TV) making millions by selling fake degrees/diplomas: NYtimes exclusiv

Off The Record (Axact Kia Karobar Karti Hain??)

Listen to Shoaib Ahmed (CEO of Axact)

If his version is to believe, Axact has a enterprise software platform that provide one window solution to School/universities from Class/school management to online course and all Pakistani media and NY Time allegation that Axact give fake degrees is totally baseless.

Since Colleges/Universities are not required to be accredited in USA, his version of the story is not far fetched. This just well be a mountain out of molehill created by Pakistani media groups afraid of BOL group.

On FIA/Govt part, its WRONG to seal the office and confiscate all the property when these are just allegations as of now. NY post and other media print so many reports against Zardari and NS. Did FIA seale Bilawal House and Raiwind?

Lets wait and see what comes out of investigation although I doubt that it will be a fair and transparent investigations. “Ahini hath” never move so swiftly unless it want to punish someone guilty or not.

PS: From personal experience, I have worked in SaaS (Software as a Service) setup during my career and its not unusual to have letter heads/document templates etc or client companies on location because those document templates were used to send snail mail to customer’s of our customer so GEO and other news media bleeping “fake empty degrees” found in Axact’s software house is not a big deal.

Also there was some “forensic expert” from FIA telling that "we have found the proofs that all the university/colleges web sites were sort of “identical code” …duh? Enterprise SaaS almost always have same code for 1000s of clients …:smack:

Re: AXACT (Bol TV) making millions by selling fake degrees/diplomas: NYtimes exclusiv

The owner of this 20 billion dollar company is scared to death while answering the questions. Had he honest and his company is really that worth, by now he should have sued NYT and the journalist. Initial reports indicated that he was running the biggest ever scam of selling fake degrees on international bais. Definitely he has hidden support of ‘holy cow’. If he is convicted, the hidden support like mqm will disown him and will get after his arse like ‘bori’ ready for him by Altaf Bhai. That is the new phenomenon created by mafias like mqm again created by ‘holy cow’.

Re: AXACT (Bol TV) making millions by selling fake degrees/diplomas: NYtimes exclusiv

He said in "my view my company's worth...". Unless its evaluated by some 3rd party you can never figure out company's real worth. This is pretty common too.

and I am sure they will find something against him. No business can survive such a strict scrutiny be it in Pak or anywhere else. Pakistan main tu loog bhains chori kerney k ilzam main bhi jail gaeey hain.

Re: AXACT (Bol TV) making millions by selling fake degrees/diplomas: NYtimes exclusiv

So he is lying. Why do you believe in a liar??? This scumbag claim his company worth is $20 billions but paid Rs. 26 income tax. Does it make any sense????

Re: AXACT (Bol TV) making millions by selling fake degrees/diplomas: NYtimes exclusiv

By all mean, investigate and punish him for whatever he has done wrong. I am not here to defend him and my take was only about the "fake degrees" block buster that's going on on our media these days and stupid claims that media anchors etc are making these days.

I have already said that they will find something like tax evasion etc on him personally and also on his business and might shut him off but also if we do such strict scrutiny, it will shut down 90% of businesses in Pakistan and perhaps put 100% of politicians etc in jail.

As for him lying. what part of "main samjhta hoon k mairey company ki value 20 billion hai" ( "I think my company's is valued at 20 billion") you dont understand?

Re: AXACT (Bol TV) making millions by selling fake degrees/diplomas: NYtimes exclusiv

Seriously?? So there are two versions, one coming from NYtimes and other from the owner and you clearly are defending him here. The NYtimes report is very clear and if Axact or someone believes Declan walsh is saying “baseless” I’m not sure after 3 days there hasnt been a single lawsuit while it took just few hours for them to sue Pak tea house or respectable bloggers like Raza Rumi??!!
Their first response was a press release saying

  • How patriot they are
  • How much charity they give
  • How declan walsh was expelled in 2013
  • How they registered a case against express news who are the pakistani partner of NYtimes

And now the second response is what you posted. They are acting like true political leaders right now doing press conferences etc.

And right now saying that hey other people are corrupt too, wuts wrong with this scam or fraud is exactly the same version that any person who is caught red-handed in pakistan says as their “excuse” for their crime.

Re: AXACT (Bol TV) making millions by selling fake degrees/diplomas: NYtimes exclusiv

put him in jail if he is guilty of anything. who cares?

I am not defending him. I am just saying that his side of story is also not far fetched and is NOT too fictional to be true and this might not be as slum dunk as NY times or Pakistani media is painting it to be.

and that our Govt/FIA is showing unnecessary (and perhaps illegal???) urgency in shutting down the offices and arresting employees unless they have some proof that we don't know of because there are investigative stories left right and center about our politicians, bureaucrats and general and they are never treated like Axact.

Whats the truth? we will figure out soon I guess..or perhaps never (as it always happens in Pakistan)

and finally, when did I say that we should let him go coz everyone is doing it? dont put words in my mouth. I said they will find the corruption with this scrutiny just like they will find in 90% of rest of the businesses in Pakistan.

Re: AXACT (Bol TV) making millions by selling fake degrees/diplomas: NYtimes exclusiv

I’m not a lawyer so I cannot comment on what action is legal and what is not. May be @Shamraz_Khan would know better among us.

But I know two similar cases that i’ve seen personally.

  1. There was a recruiting company who used to sponsor h1-b visas to various, most of them Pakistanis and fake jobs were created for the reason and then the employees were exploited too. One employee went to agencies and told wuts going on inside. Guess what, when FBI raided the office of said org first thing they did was to possess server and seal the office

  2. Similar case but here its not an org, its famous 7-eleven chain. There was a story came in local newspaper that one of the Pakistanis (living nearby my house) who happened to own five 7-eleven stores hired illegal immigrants and then underpay them and also threaten to deport them if they make noise. When the story is published, guess again wut the investigating agency did? Sealed those 7-elevens.
So I’m not sure how far its true saying that FIA is wrong to seal their offices. But again, if they think its illegal, goto courts instead of using ARY news channel or Mobi D!ck Luqmani manjan.

I didnt say you said it, or did i? Thats the impression I’m getting from all those who are trying to say that poor AXACT has been targetted by shaitani, mulk-dushman, yahoodi agent media like NYtimes or Geo

Re: AXACT (Bol TV) making millions by selling fake degrees/diplomas: NYtimes exclusiv

Exactly, I saw his live interview on ARY he sounds very confident, Basically he was saying that these are accusations, prove it in a court of law or shutup.
I think this whole thing is blown out of proportion just because NYT reported.

Re: AXACT (Bol TV) making millions by selling fake degrees/diplomas: NYtimes exclusiv

Ofcourse, he sounds confident.. must be saying truth and nothing but truth.

And ya, again, a newspaper writing a investigative report with proofs against someone ..toba toba. Never heard of it before. They should only sue AXACT or shut the eff up.
It should never be other way around. :chai:

But wait, why is AXACT defending itself through an agencies’ favourite channel when they are so cute :konfused:

Why do i need to point someone to this TED presentation:

Re: AXACT (Bol TV) making millions by selling fake degrees/diplomas: NYtimes exclusiv

BBC’s urdu program Sairbeen’s coverage of this news with a small interview of mulk-dushman Saihooni/indian agent Declan walsh talking about possible court encounter against our proud patriot Axact/Bol owners :hbk:

Re: AXACT (Bol TV) making millions by selling fake degrees/diplomas: NYtimes exclusiv

That is very common to make sure that evidence is not destroyed (sealing of equipments/property, etc.). Btw, personals can be held for 24 hours w/o being charged for questioning. All, that is legal and allowed (in the US once Miranda Rights are invoked by suspect, a suspect cannot be questioned, but they can still be help for up to 24 hours).

**LAHORE: **A day after federal investigators swooped on the Axact offices, lawmakers in the Punjab Assembly submitted a resolution expressing their concern over the software company’s role in industrial-scale sale of fake degrees from phony universities.

The resolution, submitted by Opposition Leader in the provincial legislature Main Mehmoodur Rasheed, calls for speedy investigation and punitive action against those behind coercing people into paying thousands of dollars for worthless academic accreditation.
Perturbed by the multimillion-dollar education scam that has sent shockwaves across the country, Rasheed also criticised the government for its failure to prevent such financial fraud. The resolution also states that such scandals batter Pakistan’s global image.
The opposition leader also sought the government’s response on the issue. However, due to the law minister’s absence the deputy speaker adjourned the matter till Thursday (today).

Chester received the degree based on his ‘life and work experience’. PHOTO COURTESY: GETEDUCATED.COM

Believe it or not! A dog in the United States was issued an online MBA by one of the degree mills allegedly run by the Pakistani software company Axact, a sting operation conducted by GetEducated.com revealed in 2009.
Chester Ludlow, a pug dog from Vermont, was awarded the MBA by Rochville University, a purported online college that offers degrees based on life and work experience. And the damning The New York Times exposé by Declan Walsh revealed that the online college was among the numerous diploma mills run by Axact.
GetEducated.com organised the sting operation against Rochville University in May 2009, submitting a resume for Chester – the website’s mascot – along with $499. According to the report on the operation posted on the website, an express packet in Chester’s name arrived from a post office box in Dubai a week later on June 5, 2009. The package contained Chester’s distance MBA diploma, two sets of college transcripts, a certificate of distinction in finance, and a certificate of membership in the student council. According to the paperwork, the pug ‘earned’ a GPA of 3.19.
All documents were issued in the dog’s American Kennel Club pedigree name Chester Ludlow, GetEducated.com said. Chester also received a Rochville University window decal for a car, the report added.

Wonder why would someone have a major CORPORATE office in Dubai but keep it closed.

Axact’s Dubai office closed for 2 years Last Updated On 21 May,2015 About 7 hours ago

The company is at the centre of a vast fake degree scam, after an article in the New York Times.

Dubai — In a major twist to a fake degree scam reported by the New York Times, the offices of Axact Private Limited in Dubai have remained closed for more than two years, Khaleej Times reported.

Khaleej Times visited three locations listed as Axact offices in online business directories and found only one bearing the company’s name. A small leased space inside a business centre managed by Tecom in Dubai Media City is all that remains of Axact’s Dubai operations.
“Nobody has visited this office in the last two years and it hasn’t been opened even once,” said a security guard working at a business centre leased by Axact.
Two chairs, an empty office desk and a telephone are visible in the glass cabin representing Axact FZ LLC.
“The owner is never here but we do receive a few couriers occasionally,” said the guard.
He could not elaborate further on whether the courier was ultimately delivered to the company’s representatives but did confirm the company was owned by a ‘Pakistani businessman’.
The company is at the centre of a vast fake degree scam, after an article in the New York Times alleged its involvement in selling fake degrees.
A post on the company’s website lists the small leased space in Dubai as the company’s head office with a news post reading, “The head office in Pakistan is in Karachi and the capital city can also boast an Axact regional office. The corporate head office is in Dubai, the city which has become the new business hub of the world.”
Officials from Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) raided the company’s Karachi office on Wednesday morning, seizing all electronic equipment. Law enforcement agencies across Pakistan have swung into action following the news report with summons issued to Axact officials.

According to media reports in Pakistan, six million shares of Axact Private Limited are distributed between three shareholders. Out of these total six million shares, Shoaib Ahmed Sheikh and his wife Ayesha Shoaib Sheikh have only two shares whereas the remaining 5,999,998 shares are owned by the third director — Axact LLC, based in a Dubai Free Zone.
Tecom officials could not be reached at the time of going to Press.
