Ok, I am back with Geico!! Well, I switched to Progressive from Geico cos they were too expensive, now I switched back cos they gave me a better rate. It could be that just to get the customer they give a cheaper rate .. but it also could be that now I am married which supposedly makes me more responsible in driving according to Geico's policies than in Progressive.
Tip of the day, even if you are comfortable with your insurance, SHOP AROUND the next time it's due. I called State Farm, NationWide & Allstate .. Geico beat them all.
I personally found AAA-California a good one when it comes to rate-service combination. I had comprehensive coverage with AAA (with 500 deductable) and my rates were not that high (but that depends on many factors including your location, age, driving record etc). On the top of all discounts i also got "professional" discount by mentioning that I am an engineer.
Thanks God i was in a need only once during my whole insurance period. I was driving on 405 freway (LA BOUND) and a chinkey hit me from side while entering on the free way. I just had to place one call to AAA (1:00 am at night) and they took it from there. All i had to do is to go to any of their designated body shop and left my car with them for repairs. While i was making a decision about the body shop i had to move out of CA on a quick notice so AAA sent me a cash out check for the amount estimated by one of their designated shop.
i also have insurance with AAA and had found them to be the cheapest a year ago when i was looking for auto insurance...but they raise their premium every year... do all the insurance companies do that? and does it vary by what percent they raise it? (sorry if its a dumb question but i really don't know)...i tried switching but progressive was still more expensive for me, so i stuck with AAA.
Guess what? I just got my 6 month renewal notice. They increased my premium again :( . I neither got tickets nor any accident. I guess I will have to comparison shop again! I have been with the same company for 3 yrs now.
Every ins. company is increasing premium these days. If you wanna stick to tier-1 insurance companies, then check out i21.com as they gave me very decent savings. Gieco, for some reason was way up along with All State. I didn't check State Farm or AAA this time. Last I checked they were quite high.
