What is South Africa’s ranking as far as in the points table? This website shows that rankings hasn’t been updated since December 19th. I assume South Africa is second to Australia, trailing by a few points.

You are quite right.
Looks like Australia will go in without Brett Lee and Andrew Symonds. These two did not contribute much to the team's winning strategy in the first two tests. Waiting to see how Australia's bench strength will perform.
The third test starts in less than a day.
