Although batting exceeded most people’s expectations in the second innings, the first innings effort was nothing short of a disgrace. It was a freakish performance in the second innings, the late order contributing with the bat for a change
Had Wahab used his brain in the last over on day 4 we might have had a different result. It was a loose shot to say the least to a ball pitched outside off. He could have left it given the delicate match situation. Tentativeness got the better of him. The catching in the first innings also left a lot to be desired
Despite Shafiq’s heroics (most people thought that we would lose by 300 plus runs) this was Pakistan’s 10th straight defeat in Australia
I am not going to get carried away with just one good batting effort.
I still expect Australia to win the test series 3-0 (would be glad to be proved wrong) because I just don’t think that our players have the temperament or discipline to play consistently well over 5 days in Australia. History is against us.
1 or 2 good sessions or even 1 or 2 good days are just not good enough in places such as Australia. Let’s see if Pakistan can replicate this batting performance in the next two tests. Need to bat well in both innings
Must guard against complacency.
Look at what happened to England in India. They almost won the first test (and thought they could even win the series) but then lost 4 games on the trot (the last two by an innings despite scoring 400 plus in the first innings!!)

Good points but we are hoping against hope so lets hope that they perform well, on the other hand I am not too impressed with Aus batting either, two good knocks by batsmen made that score and one off them had the benefit of being out twice, dropped once and no one shouted for the other catch. Overall a good performance by Pak team and lets hope they carry it through the series.

I think the takeaways from this test is one most important thing i.e. CONFIDENCE. Every Pakistani player should be a lot confident now and trust themselves that they can do it in and against Australia. They surely can. But for that all eleven players have to show their worth. Relying 1 or 2 wont help at all.
With the regular brown ball in effect now, I’m hoping there’ll be more swing. So it’ll help our bowlers but at the same time more challenges for the batsmen but they must get over it now.

It was a great fight from the green team although they still have a long way to go…! The fight news was disappointing. Childish act from the Pakistani players…!
