Starc’s test numbers are not that special though. With time they might improve

And I would like to see how Starc does in places like the sub-continent and UAE. Johnson had moderate success against Pakistan in UAE but is a completely different bowler in Australia for obvious reasons (helpful pitches and conditions)

Australia are in firm control...cannot see them losing from here unless NZ's middle/late order does something special with the bat.
Anything over 250 is a good score at Melbourne because of the big ground and boundaries
McCullum did an Afridi in the first over (was probably done for pace by Starc but he was almost itching to hit every ball and paid the price for it..) and Guptill played a really poor shot

Mccullum kept looking for ball moving away. And the ball nipped on to beat him first ball. As commentator said he played outside the line of ball and got out after being beaten 1st ball playing outside line of ball.

It was a good ball but McCullum should have been more circumspect. This is a World Cup Final not least you are the captain of the side. At least assess the pitch and the bowler for a few overs before playing your shots....even if it means curbing your natural instincts to whack every ball. That was poor from him.
This has all the makings of a one-sided final

Very sloppy batting from NZ and hopes for WC fading while under pressure. There was no need for Mccullum to take risky shorts especially in the first over and later loose 2 other wickets in quick succession. Its 25 over complete and they are still under 100.
