South Asians, in particular Pakistani folks, are disgustingly ageists. I can't stand women in their 30s calling random 40 plus woman an 'aunty'? I actually know so many women in their 40s who can't stand this trend, and I can understand why. Its actually those 30 something mama of dozen kids that need to stop acting like teenagers and show respect to other women. Yes same women would pee in their pants if they were to address a 40 something Western woman an 'aunty'.
Why our society is so mean and bitter towards women of certain age? I mean the word 'aunty' here on these foum is basically an insult term and I find it extremely pathetic.
Our coutry is self-sifficient in many weird things. Aunties being one of them :p
But these 'aunties' do provide masala in our lives. Our lives would be soooo boring without them :D
I have no problem with aunties acting like teens. But I hate them when they start making fun of others on their age. Its like ridiculing others by faking their own selves.
I call aunty anyone who is my mom's age. My mom's friends, my dad's friends wives, my neighbours who have married children etc. Any married lady who has children in teens and above.

When I think of anyone under 24 I think of them as kids....and I'm not even in my 30s yet. May be because I have nieces and nephews who are of ages 21 and 20.
