I have also used a paste of antibiotic crushed to take care of this really bad rash I got after facial waxing, recommended by Adrasteia. It really helped soothe my face and bring the redness down.
This is something new I heard... and now we are hearing about Advil. Wow, that's great.
Here's something else I read:
You know for those red acne pimples that some people get that are inflammed, a few dabs of visine eye drops is said to help with the redness. Haven't tried it but read it.
