It depends upon what is your defination of SuperNatural. If it means un-explainable, then yes maybe it is.
See, if there was an explosion happened in the dead center of that "hole" which pushed all the matter away from it, then there should be some gama radiation left in that area which could be observed by scientists. There is none
If there is a balck hole sitting in the dead center, pulling the matter into itself, then there should be X-rays that could be detected.
One thing the article did not mention was the temperature of that empty space. If it is anything above 0 K then there is something there (I am sure that they did check for the temp, somehow)
I should find out more about that. Good topic to discuss
