When I think of desis in Africa, I think about their life from what I see in the US, hence my questions regarding assimilation and inter marriage.
So just like here, do the religious types look down upon people who have become "Africanized"? And look down in what sense? As they do in the West?
I guess one has to find out first, how the desis percieve the local culture, and if they feel inferious, superior or equal to them.
Also, Aly-salm mentioned new comers. What persuades someone to move to Africa from Pakistan? Let's leave SA out of this, since it is a modern country.
People come to the West because they feel they will have more job and financial opportunities, kids (and themselves) will have better education opportunities and life will not have the hassles that we have back home (lack of infrstructure, corruption at even the most lowest levels, nepotism like crazy, helplessness in face of certain problems, etc). Not saying there aren't pluses and minuses of both sides, but that is how people think.
I only see SA, and maybe Kenya providing that, the rest like Botswana, Nigeria, and Zimbabwe seem to have the same issues Pakistan has, if not more.
I am not trying to put anyone down, just curious.
