To most Indians, a victory over an established dushman like Pakistan is more special and thrilling than winning the Asia Cup final by defeating a team of players with long, weird sounding and unpronounceable names and a country where fans don't burn their team's effigy upon loss. In the absence of emotions, there can be no excitement.
In 1999 WC when BD beat Pakistan in round games they claimed it was their WC. Currently Pakistan team is nowhere close to that team, and with this win Indian fans think they already are done with the cup after beating Pakistan

The so called number 1 team needed this victory after the non stop chitrols in England, South Africa, and West Indies.
For Pakistan, a win against India could have been nice. But frankly, for them rebuilding their side currently is far more important than winning a game against India.
