Yaar, you may have a point about colonial rule but I think you misunderstood what I was trying to imply.. I used Bangladesh (formerly East Pakistan) as an example to show that Religion could not be used to unify muslims ie make them live in one State especially because of the language and cultural barriers.
Such a nation , based on the bond of islam existed up until 1924. It was only when Attaturk came along and secularised Turkish society that it fell apart. But that could be attributed down to many things.
Yaar, the Turkish empire (Islamic Empire another words) began to decline hundreds of years ago long before attuturk..
1579 Start of decline of Turkish Empire with death of Sokolli
1683 Second siege of Vienna - last major Turkish attack on Europe
1699 Large Turkish concessions to Austria, Hungary and Poland
1831 Greece gains independence from Turkey with help from Britain
1882 Turks lose control of most of their old territories
1897 Greek-Turkish War
1908 "Young Turk" Revolution establishes constitution in Turkey
This proves one thing that Religion itself could not stop the collapse of this one unified empire..
