That just shows where Pakistan’s priorities lie, they don’t really care about Kashmiris, never have, its always been about the geo-strategic edge that Pakistan would gain by having the whole of Kashmir within Pakistani borders.
A plebiscite is not viable any more due to the changes in ethnic compositions in the Kashmir region both sides of the border. That is actually one of the main reasons why India does not adhere to that UN resolution. Azad Kashmir, being heavily populated by ethnic Punjabis of the Muslim faith tip the favour into Pakistan’s side. This is obviously unacceptable to India, as they argue that the large Hindu Mirpuri population of Azad Kashmir no longer exists and therefore the underlying factors for the calling of the plebiscite are no longer valid. Then there is also the KP exodus of 1989, which also led to changes in the demographics of the region.
It’s one big mess as it stands, the only REAL solution is complete independence. But as we all know, both India and Pakistan are just as selfish and egoistic as one another, if anything Pakistan is actually worse of the two, and would never allow for such an outcome.
