Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

Thank you, I am flattered :D

Ex-girlfriend says Asif a ‘serial fixer’..

coming straight from her heart :halo:

Mohammad Asif’s ex-girl friend has launched a scathing attack at the bowler and accused him of being directly involved in match-fixing.

As a panelist on a news channel, Asif’s former girl friend Veena Malik accused the fast bowler of being ‘criminal minded’ and a ‘serial match-fixer.’

Here’s what she had to say:

-Asif reportedly told her that Pakistan will not win a series until 2010
-She has accused Asif of bribing an Indian doctor during his doping trial at the Indian Premier League
-He is supposed to have told Mohammad Amir “I have had more court cases than your age (18)”
-He reportedly told Veena Malik: “Stop praying…we will not win a single match during the tour to Australia.”

Asif’s alleged dealings:

“He went to Bangkok to meet some bookmakers within a notice of 24 hours. This is when we were in a relationship. The conversation on the phone before the tour of Australia was specifically about fixing.”

-Kalim Imran supposedly provided Asif with nandrolone injections. Malik claims she had asked what had happened to Asif’s performance to which Asif replied, “That wasn’t me, that was the nandrolone.”

-Indian bookie’s incoming text: Asif used to send texts to Dhiraj Dixit from his servant’s numbers.
Conversation: Dhiraj says: “I can give you 40,000 dollars for this deal. Asif says: “No I want 200,000 dollars.” Dhiraj says: I would like some more team members for this deal.”

She adds: “After this Asif disappeared for a day. After some checks I found out he had gone to Bangkok and returned within 24 hours. Upon returning and finding out that I had discovered something, Asif became a little shady and we started having fights.”

-When Pakistan started losing in Australia, I jokingly said, “For god’s sake win a match.” To this he replied, “We won’t win anything until 2010.”

Veena Malik, a former model and TV host, has said she is willing to part of any hearing related to match-fixing and will surely testify.

World must not turn its back on Pakistan players caught in puppet-master’s strings..

Revealed: management’s thumbs-up..

**The confession comes just days after reports that Pakistan’s One-Day International and Twenty20 captain Shahid Afridi had barred his teammates from having any links with Mazhar who, along with his brother Azhar, acted as the players’ agent for club contracts and endorsements in England.
**
“We were fully aware that some of the players had Mazhar and Azhar as their agents and we didn’t have a problem with that,” a member of the team management told The Express Tribune from Taunton where the team arrived yesterday. “As long as they weren’t brought to the players’ rooms, we didn’t have a problem since the duo acted as their agents.”

Afridi, who announced his Test retirement after defeat in the tour’s first Test against Australia, was sceptical of the duo, an act not taken well by Mazhar who, in the video recorded by The News of the World, confirmed this stance and that the players opposed Afridi as captain for precisely this reason.
“They all want [Salman] Butt to be captain,” Mazhar had allegedly confessed before adding the players wanted Afridi to fail

While Mazhar has been released on bail by Scotland Yard, the Pakistan team’s associate manager Shafqat Rana has confirmed that no players will be suspended by the management while the police investigations were ongoing. He added that despite the magnitude of the allegations, the players remained confident and fully focussed on the job at hand.

“We have no reason to suspend anyone at the moment,” Rana told The Express Tribune. “The chairman is in London and he’s arriving here soon and we’ll wait for the police to complete their investigations.
“The players know they have a job at hand and a tour to carry on with. Despite being sad and hurt due to the allegations, they’re acting their usual selves, smiling as always and remain confident that they can do a good job on the remainder of the tour.”

Rana’s cheerfulness was in stark comparison to Pakistan’s body language on the fourth morning at Lord’s. While the batsmen were booed on the field and the post-match ceremony held indoors to avoid crowd reaction, Salman remain subdued in the post-match press conference, with a distraught look to his face, and let team manager Yawar Saeed reply to most questions.

Is it our corrupt and poor society?

Lets pull together the debate. Amir Sohail talking about ‘bhara pait’. Lawson talking about humble backgrounds… and now even this:

…* England supporters – and westerners in general – may tut-tut and disapprove of Pakistan, from its cricketers who have been implicated in match-fixing over more than two decades to its president, Asif Zardari, who chose to flaunt his wealth while the country he is supposed to rule was flooded. But, uncomfortable truth be told, Britain and the United States have complied with the governments of Pakistan in the basic form of corruption which pervades the country and derails society…

…In his book Pakistan – Eye of the Storm, the former BBC correspondent Owen Bennett-Jones wrote: “Between 1947 and 1959 up to 73 per cent of Pakistan’s total government spending was devoted to defence. The average for the period was 60 per cent.” And nothing had changed by the last time that England’s cricketers toured Pakistan at the end of 2005. The British High Commission then estimated that Pakistan’s military – including the notorious Inter Service Intelligence – took 70 per cent of government spending for itself. No doubt official disapproval has been expressed, in private, but the aid has continued to pour in from Britain and the US without sufficient strings attached.

Anyone growing up in such a country therefore sees the state doing nothing for its people, feels no loyalty to the state in return, and makes what money he can for himself. And it is very difficult for someone in Pakistan, if not quite impossible, to make a decent living by honest means: what money there is does not go where it should but into official pockets…*

Re: Mohammad Amir earns sympathy amid scandal

Amir is only 18 years old, hes a kid. He was lured in this trap by Salman Butt and Kamran Akmal. They should just give Amir a slap on the wrist cuz he's on fire right now, he's the next great bowler of the world.

Re: Mohammad Amir earns sympathy amid scandal

Most of the ex-cricketers are showing sympathy and understanding because most of them have done some sort of match/spot fixing in their careers too so they know how it works ;)

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

That has to be the post I've read all year!

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

Bad news for Pak fans :)

Kamran Akmal no longer part of Scotland Yard investigation into alleged spot-fixing, ICC says - BBC

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

This was the only hope to get rid of him

Re: Ex-girlfriend says Asif a 'serial fixer'..

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

O the humanity. Our worst fear has come true. Akmal is NOT part of the investigations any more. Why God why.

But seriously I suspect they will ALL be cleared in coming days.

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

Not linked to the topic and cricket, but anyone knows the fate of those 12 "Terrorist" Pakistani students arrested for planing a terrorist attack and later nothing could be proved.. what happend then? we the sorry asses, cursed those students and didn't knew what happened next??? were they clear??? i heard they were

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

So there would not silver lining i guess

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

Well, I have read at multiple places including cricinfo that aamir is too young and one needs to take that into account before punishing him.....ramiz said that , lawson said that..nasir hussian was saying the same thing….but bhai saab, is he really 18? khuda kay layiee, koi to such bolay..... ....

he may very well be an innocent boy with an IQ of 17 year old as he comes from a village but is he really 18?when we insist that he is an 18 yr old "boy", then it creates a wrong "framework" of reality from which baseless goodwill/sympathy is being generated for aamir.....of course I did not "deliver" the boy in the hospital, so i don’t know his exact age but I have read at multiple places that he is at least 22.... i also recall martin crowe asking waqar in NZ (in commentary box) about aamir's real age....crowe also said that he has heard that aamir is at least 22 (apparently he heard it from Pakistani camp).....

we all know that each and every Pakistani player lies about his age…afridi has publically accepted a difference of 3-4 years…razaq is at least 4 years older…rana sahib….no need to say anthing…..and I have mentioned many times on GS about younis who accidently accepted that he is 35 when he announced his retirement from T-20….his official profile showed him 31 at that time....

well….every aspect related to every cricket is a joke…lol….i mean if someone really investigates into this matter, it could be an interesting and funny scandal as well….and it may have some serious repercussions. we let players play when they may be in their 40s just because we don’t know their real age…
