Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

Eng-Pak ODI series will go on: ICC

Finally the news we were waiting for from Official Body. All the tainted players should be left out of all side games, ODI and T20 unless they are proven innocent (or otherwise)

Mumbai: International Cricket Council (ICC) president Sharad Pawar said on Monday that Pakistan will complete its England tour and the T20 and ODI series will go ahead as scheduled.
“It is the desire of the ICC, England and Pakistan that the game is continued,” Pawar said after a teleconference with top ICC officials, PCB Chairman Ejaz Butt and ECB chairman Giles Clarke.
Pakistan and England square off in two Twenty20 Internationals (September 5 and 7) before playing five ODIs from September 10-22.

Speaking to the media on the issue of spot-fixing in the Lord’s Test between England and Pakistan, which allegedly involved Pakistani cricketers accepting money from a bookie named Mazhar Majeed, Pawar said the ICC is waiting for the investigations to get over.

“Until and unless the process-related stories of investigation are over, it is improper for me to react,” Pawar told reporters here.

“ICC is waiting for the British police to complete investigation. ACSU is also looking into the details. It is also preparing a report in 2-3 days. The report by British Police and ACSU will give us a proper picture. This information we hope will lead us to take appropriate action if required,” he added.
“If this is established, there will be quite a serious view that will be taken by the Pakistan Cricket Board, the England Cricket Board and the ICC,” Pawar said.

“I had a detailed discussion with Giles Clarke, Ejaz Butt, ICC vice-president Alan Issac, CEO Haroon Lorgat, anti-corruption wing in-charge Ravi Sawani and a few officials of ICC. We discussed in depth the Pakistani players’ issue.”

Pawar said PCB chief Butt will submit a confidential report to Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari regarding the ‘spot-fixing’ allegations.

“As per our information, PCB president is preparing a confidential report which will be submitted to the President and Prime Minster. He wants guidance from the country’s leadership,” said Pawar.
Asked to comment on the Majeed’s claims of being in touch with an Indian bookie, Pawar said he had no clue about that.

“I don’t know. The BCCI have to take a view on that. The BCCI is one of our member and I am sure if any serious matter is there, the BCCI will take cognizance of this. I can’t come to a conclusion based on a video,” he said.

^^ without a doubt

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

So it all makes sense about Zulqarnain Haider. Which means both Yawar Saeed & Waqar have to be on board this too.

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

Asif has to go i think he's been in involved in some sort of conspiracy again and again...

Did he drag Amir into this? maybe?

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

If condemnation makes taking a bribe less of a crime then these 4 have been condmened more n Pakistan than Waugh and Shane in Australia. But the talk of Australian DNA not involved in hanky panky is bull$hit

Re: Arrest Over Cricket ‘Match-Fixing’ At Lords

I concur with Michael Holding…Amir is young and impressionable and was most probably lured into this by some of the senior players…

Such a shame.

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

^ dragged into it (but then Aamer is also not doodh peeta bacha) most certainly by Mohammad Asif (a crook will always be a crook)

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

I'm a bit surprised (not happily) by the bail out of the main character in just one day... I was thinking scotland yard would keep him for a number of days and get all sorts of evidences to pinpoint Pakistani players as who had been the exact criminal in the whole laid-down situation of Pakistani nation thingy.
Now when Mazhar majid is on bail, Pakistani players have moved out to practice for the side-match, I dont see any big development coming up in next few days .. and may be the dust gets settled and the criminals will remain be "heros" :(

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

^I dont think so, Butt, Amir and Asif wont be taking part in ODIs. I hope Kamran Akmal is expelled also.

Re: Arrest Over Cricket ‘Match-Fixing’ At Lords

:omg:

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

I feel like punching Ijaz Butt and break his remaining teeth.

By this time new players for ODIs should have been announced and sent to UK.

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

Dude no is prove guilty yet .....so please let us not go on the conclusion

Re: Arrest Over Cricket ‘Match-Fixing’ At Lords

with the all this money-laundering and bla bla bla.. the guy gets out on bail... wow.. what next.. the video was shot after the the balls were delivered? anyway, how can we verify that the video was before the match and/or so-called NO-BALLS...

there is lot more in it...lets wait and see

Re: Arrest Over Cricket ‘Match-Fixing’ At Lords

Holding is such a great fan of Pakistani cricket. I remember in this match when Amir was taking wickets and Holding coming for commentary was described as “here’s Holding for commentary with a gleam in his eyes”.

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

depends if the video camera had a built-in timer

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

I think even for a tabloid, there has to be some sort of reliability. They can be sued for millions if the allegations were baseless. Players also not coming out to say they are innocent should be enough for us to know its true.
