Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

Why is the management still employed right now? Fire Yawar, Ijaz Butt, Rana, Mohsin now.

Looks like the elephants themselves, Zardari and Gilani want an inquiry and a report. Good, that will cheat them. Idiots.

Keep all 7 rats in England and let them rot in jail. Try to send Asif to Pakistan through a connecting flight in Dubai.

Bring in the 11new players led by Younis Khan, Misbah or Afridi.

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

does anyone actually believe that pakistani players will end up in court here? i just can't see it happening. i'm sure once the s*** really hits the fan they will some how flee the country

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

This explains a lot of fishy things....

Yawar Saeed pushing hard to have Salman Butt be the captain.

Salman Butt refusing to review any close LBW decision.

Zulqernain's mystery injury, his facebook announcement that he was fully recovered.

Wahab Riaz playing over Umar Gul.

Afridi resigning as captain.

Pushing out Younis Khan from captaincy.

Yousufs field setting in Sydney test.

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

This isn't Pakistan they are fleeing and they aren't working with Pakistan sifarshi police, this is Scotland Yard they are dealing with.

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

More details...apparently these rat mofos were on the watch list to begin with:

Cricinfo

**

Less than a day after the News of the World sent Pakistan cricket heading towards another crisis more skeletons were tumbling out of the closet as it emerged that "several" of Pakistan's players have been monitored by the ICC's Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) for some time. Cricinfo understands that Salman Butt and Kamran Akmal are part of a group of players the watchdog has been keeping a close eye on.

Added to this, influential sources close to the Pakistan team have said Mazhar Majeed, the man at the centre of the spot-fixing scandal that erupted at Lord's, has also been on the ACSU watchlist but investigations were hindered because he is an agent. "He has been under the scanner for some time. But he is the commercial agent to various players," said the source. "They are their official player agents who are doing all these endorsements. In that case nobody can question their presence."

And the source added: "There are a number of Pakistan players that have been under the ACSU scanner for a while now." He pointed out that the exercise was not only a reaction to Pakistan's ignominious tour of Australia earlier this year where they lost every match, including the controversial second Test at Sydney. At one stage Australia were just 49 ahead with two wickets ahead, but the last two wickets extended the advantage to 176 then Pakistan floundered badly and raised more than a few eyebrows through the manner in which they folded.

Kamran had also managed to drop four catches along with a missed run-out opportunity during Australia's second innings, and during the post-tour inquiry committee set up by the PCB Inthikab Alam and Aaqib Javed, the head coach and the assistant coach on the tour, raised doubts over Kamran's gloverwork. That lead to suspicions of match-fixing and Lord Paul Condon, the former head of the ACSU, said that series was being investigated.

"We are satisfied that that was a totally dysfunctional tour from a Pakistani point of view, and that dysfunctionality in the dressing room led to players not performing well, and maybe making them potentially underperform deliberately," Condon told Cricinfo before he retired. "What we still need to establish is whether that was because rival camps wanted to do down captains or potential captains, or whether it was something more serious, doing it for a financial fix."

As disclosed by the NOTW, Majeed allegedly said that Sydney was the last instance where he was involved in fixing a match. "Let me tell you the last Test we did. It was the second Test against Australia in Sydney," he told the undercover reporter. "Australia had two more wickets left. They had a lead of 10 runs, yeah. And Pakistan had all their wickets remaining. The odds for Pakistan to lose that match, for Australia to win that match, were I think 40 to 1.

"We let them get up to 150 then everyone lost their wickets," Majeed revealed. ''That one we made £1.3 [million]. But that's what I mean, you can get up to a million. Tests is where the biggest money is because those situations arise.

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

no i wont keep quiet. i've got the same right as u to air my views. if u don't like it, don't read. i don't see what other proof anyone else with common sense and a brain needs to see that they are guilty as sin. but ur right we'll wait for an investigation and hopefully this time the issue won't just be brushed under the carpet and this shameless lot will be made an example of to deter future players

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

Police cannot arrest the players on the basis of evidence that has been revealed so far. Bcoz English bookies are not offering bets on particular no balls. For police to arrest them they have to prove that players had fixed the result of the match. At present there is no evidence that they did so (they might weel have, but, whether it can be proved is another thing).

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

According to this Mohammad Yousuf would be part of that or the coach (Waqar Younis?) as according to Yousuf it was team/coach who had decided to spread out the field.

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

I disagree, I think even taking money and bowling 'no-ball' comes under similar crime whether or not match was fixed.

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

Thats what Yousuf said...also he was part of the same batting colapse in Sydney as well.....although Intikhab was the coach....Waqar was just the bowling coach!

So far seems Butt, Kamran, Asif Amir are all the main culprits. Maybe chota Akmal and Yousuf too? Although I doubt a Maulvi like Yousuf would do something like that...so hard to say Yousuf is involved.

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

We will know in court (hopefully) what happened in Sydney. According to Mazhar he had 10 players in the bag not just seven so who knows if Yousuf was part in it or not.

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

I am not sure, but from what i have heard so far, if the guy is booked for defrauding the bookies, then how can it be defrauding them when he fixes something that bookies are not offering any deal on.

But ofcourse i am not much aware of English law. Someone else might know better.

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

as far as i know (someone correct me pls if im wrong) he has been arrested for *conspiracy *to defraud bookmakers

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

Umar Akmal faking injury.
Barha Akmal playing worst than my 4 year old.
Umar Akmal playing like a super star and then suddenly throws his wicket.
Akmal scoring tens of low scores, dropping dollies, missing run out and stumps and still in team.
Zulqarnain haider sent back to Pakistan immediately after the match, even though he performed pretty decent with the bat and with the gloves.
Umar Gul staying in England even though he was 'seriously' injured.
Wahab Riaz forgetting his complete line and length in just the span of one match. Wahab bowled miserably in the last match, too wide, short and no balls..
the list is so long ................

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

Today Veena Malik came on Kamran Shahid (?) program and revealed that Asif had been in talks with Indian bookies for a while. She also revealed that during losses in Australia when she called Asif he laughed it out and said Pakistan will not win any series until 2010. She also mentioned one of Asif's conversation where he was being offered US$40,000 but he said that he wants $200,000. She showed Asif's mobile phone bill as proof. She said that he would receive incoming text on his own phone but called back using his servant's phone(s).

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

but i didnt know, cause i never lived in pak and only had the image given to me by everyone that waseem was a true hero.

most of the pak cricket has been a farce for the last 20years aaaaarghhh !!!!!!!! DISGUSTING

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

This is not new. After Imran and Miandad that is a play.

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

^ Very true.

Does anybody know where can I get full list of 'officials' including all coaches of PCB/team?

Re: Arrest Over Cricket 'Match-Fixing' At Lords

I have read most of it.. i used to know some ppl who used to go to Lahore during world cup and other tournament matches for betting and there stories used to be true... also, Justice Qayum report was an eye opener... I never liked Wasim Akram as a person due to the reasons listed in the link you posted.... this is one reason PCB never asked him to serve/coach Pakistani team.
