Oh, OK.
while we're on the topic of Bustamante, I don't think he and his new boss will be getting along too well considering that ol-Cruz practically challenged him to a fight last weekend. My money would be on Ah-nold

Not only that, Bustamante, flabergasted everyone on election night, when it became clear that Arnold is winning by a landslide, and it was time to give the concession speech. So Mr Bustamante appeared on national television, and instead of conceding like a decent candidate, started thumping his chest for the defeat of Prop 54 and congratulated his people on the success of their efforts for defeating Prop 54. Now, the interesting thing is that Prop 54 was so controversial that even the conservative/Republican party had not endorsed it either and it was poorly advertised anyway, and was hugely under-funded. The speech of Mr Bustamante was such a tangent that all tv networks cut him off and resumed the election coverage. An hour later, Mr Bustamante appeared again, this time, to actually concede, but by then it was so late, that only his first sentence was broadcast on the tv, and then they all cut and switched to Schwerezenegger camp where Jay Leno started to introduce the new Governor.
By all standards, Bustamante's concession speech was as ill-planned and horribly executed as his entire campaign, so it was a fitting end. He took liberal pokes on his new boss by saying (paraphrasing) "Arnold feel free to make movies, cz I am here to take care of business" bla bla... to which yesterday Arnold pointedly said in his news conference "I will not be making any movies, cz being Governor is a full time job for me now". Bustamante openly accused Arnold's campaign.. esp Pete Wilson (former Governor) of being a racist for trying to push Prop 54, which is ironical, at best, and insulting, at worse.
Perhaps he will Fraudia, but sinse talk is that California is so broke right now, how can the state afford it?
Whers I live in Midwest you pay personal property tax based on the type/age cars you own, and watercraft, etc…so those with the more expensive cars pay more personal property tax.
…So if you have some poor schmoo working stiff driving a used Chevy Malibu and some other schmoo driving a brand new Lexus or SUV well the weathier person pays more tax. Fair I think. The money for various necessary public works.
I remember a Bush promising no new taxes. Fact is, a lot of politicians make promises that can’t keep. Don’t take this the wrong way, be nice if Arnold saves you a few hundred dollars a year.
On another note…
Bravo for Arnold for being so highly ambitious, motivated and involved.
What does his being an immigrant (sort-of) from Austria say about the U.S.? I think sort of an example of what is meant by the idea of the
American Dream and the possibilities and opportunities of a free society.
Am wondering if this post will be removed? I realize I have a tendancy to ramble and get sidetracked posting…on the other hand…if a person was face to face talking..same thing would happen.
So sometimes I kind-of think (no offense mods) that even if some words and thoughts are off the beaten track…are a sign of people communicating. And thats a good thing isn’t it?

The car tax is always calculated based on the value of the car.
California always had a car tax, but a few years ago, when the state was awash with revenues, the legislature gave 60-70% discount on the car tax. This year, when the budget gap was huge, the discount was taken away, which effectively meant that the car tax is trippled for the tax-consumers, and with the sagging economy people understandably screamed. Arnold promised a complete repeal of the car tax during campaign, but the reality is that the car tax will bring $4 billion, which the cities need to carry out their programs. So unless can figure out a way to bridge the gap, its difficult to realistically repeal the tax. Cities are promising to fight any further cutting of city services.
So, while there is little chance of seeing the campaign promises go through, it will be fun to see how the terminator deals with his the economic problems facing the 5th largest economy in the world.

There is always something for the government to spend money on isn't there.
Schools, infrastructure, jobs...etc.
Here in my state they are having controversy with city schools and funding....and in recent years riverboat gambling and lotterys were made legal and the tax monies were to go for education... well the enterprises seem to be profitable, yet still not enough education monies so they say..
Seriously like to see an audit of gambling/lottery profits... anyway...city schools are profiled as having known monetary problems ....so to attempt to solve the problem.... the city decides to spend 400k to see if there is a funding problem...duh..instead of spending the 400k to help finance the negative maybe 1.5 million balance...they are projecting. I could be mistaken..but spending 400k to verify a budget shortage seems wasteful to me.
Example..
I sent my kid to all girls highschool...tuition began around 3750 annually up to 5100 at senoir year...and they educated those girls very well on those amounts, in fact the actual cost I think was about $800 more per girl w/o books...ok books each semester around 250-400 depending on if bought new or used...
the balance between cost and tuition was covered by alumni and fund raisers... and this year the school managed to add a 23,000 square foot addition, which includes a new library, a wireless computer writing lab, 5 new science classrooms/labs, a dance/aerobics room, music room including practice rooms and a physical fitness center/weight room.
This school has 99% of graduates go on to college. 67 Seniors (50%) of the class of 2003 were awarded 257 scholarships with a total value of $4,289,552.00 (12-1 ratio teacher to student)
Ok granted my kid's school relied on carpooling and public transportation to get to school....no school-bus...even though there are kids that live far, far from walking distance attending...neat thing we did was get together a buzz book and got the kids living nearby each other carpooling together, and by 11th grade most of the kids had drivers licences anyway... so schoolchums could take turns driving each other..
(only 11th and 12th graders allowed parking passes)
Ok Granted every classroom not A/C....but if extremely hot..early fall..school out early.
Why can't the public funded schools do the same with the same amount funding each kids education? Ih fact in my state..the city schools actually are said to spend more per student...yet many students are lacking quality education.
Arnold’s first order of business after taking oath of office - he repealed the car tax hike. yahoooooooooooooooooooo!!! ![]()
Newly inaugurated California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed an order rolling back a 300 percent increase in state vehicle registration fees Monday, just hours after taking the oath of office.
Executive Order No. 1 repealed the $4 billion increase in the “car tax,” imposed earlier this year to help shrink a massive budget shortfall from $38 million to $8 million. Analysts believe the fee hike contributed heavily to his predecessor’s defeat. Reversing the car tax was one of actor Schwarzenegger’s leading campaign promises.
Be prepared Faisal.
It’s gona shock your pocket book elsewhere I predict.
