He has 10+ points lead over Bustamante.. and Gray has 56-63% people against him. With only five days remaining, experts say that Arnold can still pull through. Ofcourse it depends on which experts you listen to. I guess Dems are working feverishly to capitalize on this. The late-breaking story has Gray Davis’ ugly foot prints all over.
i hope he wins! it'll be cool and maybe one day he might bocome president; but there would be a larger lobby against him then. i believe being from a non political background and coming from humble beginings he might prove to be anice president. but who knows.
btw, will his movie career end if he is elected...? i wouldnt want that to happen, would you guys...?
Yeah, he probably will.. but the second part of this sounds a little too right:
ARNOLD’S DEBT TO CLINTON: We find ourselves agreeing with Mickey Kaus that if Arnold wins despite these last-minute groping revelations, he’ll owe Bill Clinton a debt of gratitude for raising the public’s tolerance for sexual impropriety. More to the point, Clinton, who was wildly popular in California, probably raised tolerance for sexual impropriety among California Democrats, who vastly outnumber Republicans in the state. It’s hard to imagine that the same culturally moderate Democratic-leaning voters who spent the late '90s thinking Republicans were trying to oust Clinton over what was essentially a private moral failing would now feel that Arnold lacked the integrity to hold high office. Particularly since Gray Davis has spent the last several weeks reminding them that the recall is part of the same vast right-wing conspiracy that tried to impeach Bill Clinton over said private moral failings.
WHICH IS NOT TO SAY THAT VOTERS SHOULD GIVE ARNOLD A PASS!: It’s probably safe to say that, in most cases, illicit sexual activity is partially about the sex itself, and partially about power. Now, however you feel about Clinton’s philandering, it seems safe to say that the motivation was closer to the sex end of the spectrum, since pretty much all of the offenses were committed in private settings. Of course, that’s not exactly the most exalted of motives. But it’s not quite a sign of socio-pathology either. By contrast, what Schwarzenegger’s various sexual exploits have in common seems to be his desire to assert power over other people by publicly humiliating them, as many of his victims have attested.
And it’s not just women. Schwarzenegger frequently treats men just as badly. In a New York Times op-ed this summer, the author Pat Jordan described a Schwarzenegger weight-lifting seminar he attended several years ago:
Between the ritual humiliation of numerous women and men, and his own stated ambition of becoming a dictator or a “savior like Jesus,” it’s hard not to conclude that Schwarzenegger is into power for power’s sake. That strikes us as a pretty important moral and characterological distinction between him and Clinton, but one that will probably be lost on California’s voters.

Interesting that the Kennedy's were dems and Arnold runs on republican platform.
Anyhow I have yet to hear Arnolds plans on improving California.
Watched one of the debates...and seemed to me every single person who spoke gave no remedies..just spin-talked the subject until they were able to say what they came to say....including Arnold.
Admit I got a kick out of the spunky cuban? lady. She had a good personality and was funny.
But what kind of debate was that? Heard not a word on how to fix the problems that concern the voters.
Many blame Davis on the energy problems in California..but remember peeps ... GBJ pal Willie-boy was big wig at Enron.
I wouldn't be able to vote for Arnold as I'm not sure what he stands for. Are you?

^ He is accused of "groping" by 15 or so women, but perhaps most (if not all) were 20+ years ago. This is called character assasination, if they can't find anything they'll say you peed on our lawn at age of 3.

yeah but after JFK and RFK the rest of the kennedys have been mediocre leaders, not contenders for the top leadership position, so it is not a generational thing,
The bush family on the other hand is a diff dealio.
but kennedys are def not the same as the bhuttos in Pakistan, mjeeb's family in Bengladesh or Gandhis in India.
I don't have a problen with Arnold's behavior towards women. After all all the great politicians were sort of womanizers anyway. Look at JFK, Clinton, Nawaz Shareef ( I think he had an affair with Tahira -the singer) etc.
I was surprised to see his anti-immigration remarks, desptie the fact that hes a foriegner himself... He even vows to not let foriegners in CA get drivers license.
Not foreigners… mind you. He is vowing to repeal the law which is just passed during this recall election by Gray Davis, which allows California drivers license to illegal immigrants (a.k.a. Maxicans). The new law is a security nightmare, was vetoed by Davis twice previously, and the only reason he signed it this time is to save his chair by hoping to get some Maxican votes. No serious governor would allow such mockery of law.
Well, since last Thursday, Arnold has been on the defensive about these allegation, although his poll numbers have not slid too much. Primarily hs supporters see it as a dirty campaign by Gray Davis (Davis is actually very famous for his gutter instincts to dig out dirt on his political opponents), which Arnold’s opponents show case this as just another reason why Davis should not be recalled.
Interestingly, today, a similar scandal is breaking out against Gray Davis. Seems like Arnold’s folks have decided its time for some tit for tat in this dirty game. While they probably couldn’t find any sexual escapades of Davis, what they found is a guy who needs serious anger management. At one time, he threw a fit of rage on a 62-year old secretary and screamed at her and shook her, continuously hurled the F word at her… so much so that she took a 4 month leave and then swore never to be in the same office as Mr Davis. The term for this behavior is “office batterer”. There are more incidences like this in the opinion piece published in LA Daily News, today. Read all about it here
Benjamin makes all sorts of allegations crop out of the woodwork. Arnold should change his name to Benjamin, that way everyone will love him and want him.
It's ironic that these allegations start to crop out now. I wonder how many of these alleged victims are currently financially or emotionally hard up at the moment.
One things for sure, gutter politics is not fiction.
these allegations came too late - i mean c’mon - when Arnold announced two months earlier that he’s gonna run for Governor why didn’t women come out then? - and who’s gonna believe in 30 years old crap? i think this was another dirty trick by Gray Davis to destroy Arnie’s image since there has been a lot of heat him - pathetic - Democracts told him not to run negative adds but this moron(Davis) - truly shameful!
Polls suggest that Arnie is leading upfront - and when allegations came on the scene - Arnie straight went to the Oprah Winfrey show with his wife(where audience is 80% women - Nice move there) - apologized for his past behavior while campaging - i think this was the best thing Arnie could do - and he has handled it well to control the damage - and hopefully he will turn around things in favor of the peeps of Califnoria.
