To my limited knowledge it is a ritual performed by Jewish by writing prayer (s) on a piece of paper and placing them in the cracks of West Wall now this ritual was adopted by Muslims by writing on a piece of paper and is thrown into running water- some place it on tombs -some place them on holy shrines by placing a knot with a thread…
I personally don’t approve of this practice but hey ---- people do it anyway ------

Any source/reference that this ritual performed by jewish?

It is not about personal opinions but what is backed by traditions. And saying that “it is something done by Jews” is not a reason to nullify a practice. From early history of Islam you may find an occasion when during drought in Egypt, Umar bin Khattab asked Amr to throw a piece of paper in Nile, which reportedly made Nile flow again.

Never heard/read before such incident actually happened in Umar r.a. days. Will u plz post the link/reference, if any?

To proceed: If you only flow on your own initative, then do not flow, for we have no need of you. But if you only flow on the command of Allah, the One, the Subduer, and He is the One Who causes you to flow, then we ask Allah, may He be exalted, to make you flow.”

If you see the text Hz. Umar (ra)is not making Dua to the river Nile for his needs, but asking it follow Allah Almighty’s command.

I think it Jewish prayer ritual called Tashlich

It is performed in front of a pond full of fish who are fed bread as the prayer is recited.

What is Tashlich? - Tashlich

Special verses are recited next to a body of water, such as a sea, river, stream, lake or pond, preferably one that has fish (though when no such body of water was available, some rabbis were known to do Tashlich next to a well, even one that dried up, or next to a bucket of water). Upon concluding the verses, the corners of one’s clothes are shaken out; for males, this is usually done with the corners of the tallit katan (tzitzit garment).

In that case Tashlich is totally different than 'ariza' b'coz ramesha wrote they throw a piece at a river. Another member said they place the piece in crack of wall.

This too is Jewish ritual (placing a letter to God for their needs in crack of wall.)

That’s true - but the idea is same - writing letters to God or Imam for one’s needs.

I think I read this before but for shairing again. Well isn’t like we others ask ‘through’ a ‘Waseela’? I mean in other day there was a thread ke ‘Waseela se ask karna jaiz hy ke nahi’ and if i’m not wrong than i think majority answered in yes.

So its like asking from ALLAH with the waseela of Hazrat Imam Mahdi AS through ariza.
Now the question is that some people think Imam mahdi will be born & some think Imam mahdi was born & in occultation until he returns at the end of time.
