I think people read or hear what they **want **to read or hear, thus individual perceptions. Very few ppl actually perceive others comments and views from a totally impartial stand, most of the time they are too sure of their own convictions to be swayed by an opposing point of view and of course there are those who just want to have the last word so they'll argue for the sake of arguing.
