Le Pak, as I had said earlier, it's just a guess on my part. I do not know why the BIL is equated to death. I have not researched the reference. Any guy would be death to a woman's marriage if she does not honor it and remain within limits. But if special attention is given to a BIL in the hadith, then the only reason that comes to my mind is the proximity/exposure of the relationship. Maybe I am wrong, maybe there are other reasons...I dunno. It's just a guess.

The in-laws of the wife are death itself.

A person from the Ansar inquired: (Oh) Rasulullah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam), what about husband’s brother, (what can you inform me regarding him, what should our relationship be like towards each other,) whereupon Rasulullah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said: The husband’s brother is like death. (Book 26, Number 5400, Imaam Muslim.)

I never heard such hadith about BIL so I was kind a confused what actually OP question is. So what I got from above hadith is that if BIL meets his SIL in seclusion it's like a death to her, right? Anyways for explaining.
