But yes, my fiance did get me a ring, and we discussed what styles, etc., I prefer. He did an amazing job—spent months checking out every spot in the diamond district, etc. I ended up with a beautiful, sparkling 1.7c princess cut set in a Verragio ‘Paradiso’ setting in platinum; it looks gorgeous!!!
Having said that, his family is very old school and I would be kinda surprised if any of the girls in his families get rings, or if any of the other guys give them. And then my family, though American, are very simple, no frills people who are not into jewelery, showy weddings, etc. So my fiance and I have kind of done our own thing in planning the wedding independently of both sides because we did want something more elegant than my family would go for, and we also wanted to escape some of the more super traditional and restrictive aspects of how his family does things. So far it’s working out OK, and I have to say I love my ring! I told my fiance that a diamond engagement ring and dancing at my wedding are two gori things I can’t give up.
