Depends on your budget. I knew a girl with a small budget and got a very small diamond solitaire engagement ring from tiffanys. I had a larger budget and worked with a diamond dealer/jeweler in nyc to do my own ring and it looks amazing. even last night i went to dinner and met a woman who after an hour of talkign to me was like 'wow ur engagement ring is beautiful' and she didnt ask where i got it from. almost everyone i have met admires the ring and doesnt ask wehre i got it from.
also, my aunt was sitting right next to me she has a an engagement ring with a carat wt. similar to mine, a bit less, but it doesnt sparkle at all. she had a smaller budget but all she cared was for the weight and almost no one likes her ring, it doesnt sparkle at all, the color and clarity are pretty bad.
regardless of ur budget, you should have a balance between the 4c's. u dont want a huge stone that doesnt sparkle, and u dont want a flawless stone thats so small that u barely see.
