I heard there are no Sri Lankans, Philipinos, Malaysian, Indonesian, Indian "unskilled" labor in Saudi Arabia... is that true?
The Govt. of Pakistan has mutual agreement with UAE and Saudia that they will help Pakistan with unemployment and poverty by providing jobs to unskilled workers. Mostly, these countrys are more relaxed in issuing work visas to Pakistanies...rather than to Indians, Malaysians or Filipinos. The are really very leniant to Pakistan caz of cordial brotherly relations. Pakistanies should be thankful to UAE and Saudia for helpin us out.
POINT 1 - UAE donating an about to be dismantled power plant to Pakistan
POINT 2 - UAE and Islamists' Ummah
Point 1 -details
Hearty thanks to UAE for donating us the scraps of an about-to-be dismantled power plant. Generally a power plant is condemned for scrap material when it becomes too costly to operate due to old parts etc. Hopefully we can find new parts for this plant and still be able to pay for the fuel to run it. Our current IPPs are not running their plants because Pak government is not paying for their fuel.
Point 2 -details
Wish every member of "Islamists Ummah" was forward thinking, pro-West, pro-development like UAE.
UAE / Tureky / Malaysia are perhaps the most pro-West countries and in turn haven for the Western tourism.
Ignore some blabbering of current of past PM/presidents these three countries for a moment.
Ordinary citizens of these three countries do not go around beating up women, blowing up girls schools, or burn KFCs, or kidnap and kill Americans.
So the day Pakistani-Islamists adopt the tolerant and secular ways of the people of UAE/ Malaysia / Turkey, we will be on the path of progress.
congratulations to all pakistanis. a power plant is a good gift that will benefit people. the fortunate half of the ummah should do more such developmental gifts for pakistan, afghanistan etc, and not throw money at shady entities with guns.
If you are Pakistani why do you get all burned up when other muslims help us? Your own weaknesses as a muslim and human being are not valid reasons.
You might be looking at people as "burned up" but thats only your perception so the problem lies with you in this regard. As Shamraz posted above that even Canada donated a nuke plant so why do we have to label donation from so called Muslim countries as "Ummah helping us out"? Just thank UAE for their donation and further improve bilateral relations and move on instead of giving it a "Islamic" flavor.
Providing unskilled workers of Pakistan with jobs ( Please note that no other country allows unskilled workers to immigrate to their country)
You must be joking my friend. Yes there are many educated Pakistanis living in Britain (and US) but every second or third Pakistani is either running an off licence corner shop or driving a cab. And I believe most cab drivers in NY are desis too. While it might be halal rozi roti it is not skilled work by definition. The second generation is educated (in many cases not even the second!!)
Trust me you will find far more decent people on domestic routes (Ibd-Karachi for insance) than on international flights from Pakistan to UK/US.
And believe you me most Turkish expatriates are running kebab shops in UK. That's all they are good at..
I agree with ehtasab among other people here. While we should thank the UAE govt for this generosity, it does not change anything as far as the perception of an ordinary Arab goes about us. Unless we change our begging habit and stamp out rampant corruption from our society we will always be regarded as miskeen.
Same goes for our 'friendship' with China. The essence of this special relationship is a mutuality of interest e.g. Pakistan's support for China on all issues of her soverieignty e.g. Taiwan, Tibet, human rights etc. Our relationship is enduring and multi-dimensional for sure but believe you me China is as wary of the growing influence of islamic extremism as the West. Besides an ordinary chinese knows just about as much about Pakistan as an ordinary American

UMM what has this to do with our discussion? I didnt take about UK or US
It was in the news last year that the ministry of labor of KSA has requested Pakistan to start sending skilled workers instead of non skilled ones....future looks grim for Pakistani Mazdoors!
point out where it states that the plant was about to be dismantled and is scrap. The article states:
[quote]
Water and Power Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf left for Dubai on Monday to sign a memorandum of understanding with the UAE authorities and to work out a plan for dismantling, packing and transporting the plant to Pakistan.

ehtasab I say the word Ummah and you all get irritated. Its rather amazing. The word Ummah causes more strife amongst supposed muslims then it does in the West.
And why can't we label it as such? Why is it a problem for you, that a muslim places such a label on the matter.
The UAE is helping us out. The UAE is part of the Islamic Ummah. Ergo the Islamic Ummah is helping us out. These are facts. They don't change no matter what issues you have with the concept.
I am rather surprised that one word or concept could make you see red so quickly and forget that this is going to benefit the people of Pakistan. Oh sorry I made the mistake thinking you actually cared for the plight of the average Pakistani.
Investements by UAE in Pakistan have been very harsh. Examples are Etisalat take over of PTCL and their tougher conditions for the oil refinery at Hub.
That sadly is the weakness of our government. We should stand up for our stuff. Its like the Musharraf regime trying to sell our steel mills to the Harri family. A dumbass move, but they were making money for their own pockets so who cares.
I'm sorry but this charity business does not mean we're suddenly friends. Friends have mutual interests and mutual respect. UAE turns our people into chattel, destroys a vital port, considers our land a big playground and you think we should be proud of a dinky power plant?
It's no gift. It's no friendship. They've owed us for a long time and, frankly, this powerplant is a slap in the face.

Good to know your opinion holds no value in real politik.
Mostar this is based on what? I know a mixture of Arabs who see India as a threat based on its actions against Pakistan and those who really don't care.
Hey seen 40 years of Pakistan and China's friendship. That is enough proof.
Mostar we have such statements between Turkey and Israel, China and the US, France and Rwanda. It means little. Secondly that link has no statement by the Saudi Official. Only the Indian one. What does that tell you?
