Re: Arabic Makeup.

Hi
Surma is in fashion all over the world…dear

Re: Arabic Makeup.

So goris apply surma? :omg:

Btw, if you had READ MY POST, you would see that I wasn’t against surma. I am against all that black mud / coal called kajal that people put in their eyes.

Re: Arabic Makeup.

surma and kajal is two different things
And i do agree KAJAL is in fashion not surma.........

Re: Arabic Makeup.

hi
dear,
i think you havent read about kajal made by pakistan.
It contain large amount of lead, that effect your eye really bad.it just like your r using lead pencil in your eyes.
here is something you should read
Even though this is New York news, it concerns all people who use this brand type kajols
The New York City Health Department warned New Yorkers that some imported eye makeup should not be used because they contain high levels of lead.

The affected cosmetics, identified by the names “kohl,” “kajal,” and “surma,” are imported from Asia, Africa and the Middle East, health officials said.

The products are available at retail outlets throughout the city.

“We are making every effort to inform people and let people know that these products can be dangerous because of the lead content,” Assistant Health Commissioner Nancy Clark told CBS 2.

The Health Department said that these products are sold under a variety of brands, and not all are known to contain lead. However, lead levels are not listed on the package labels.

Health officials also said that the FDA has banned these products, which have been imported illegally.

“If you are using these products, stop using them immediately and call a doctor to request a blood lead test," said Health Commissioner Dr. Thomas R. Frieden.

In recent months, the health department said it investigated five lead poisoning cases involving children and pregnant women that related to use of the products.

If accidentally ingested, the products can cause lead poisoning.

The health department reports that children are at particular risk because they could put hands in their mouths after putting these cosmetics on their faces.

Most of the sampled products had lead concentrations exceeding the federal recommended limit of 10 parts per million (ppm) for lead in certain cosmetic additives.

According to a department release, the following products contained excessive levels of lead:

• “Pure Kohl from the Waters of ZamZam” (36 percent lead)

• Hashmi Kohl Aswad (Made in Pakistan, 27 percent lead)

• Hashmi Kajal (Made in Pakistan, 4 percent lead)

The Health Department has ordered storeowners to stop selling these products, and post a warning sign advising customers to stop using these products.

Officials also advise people who may have obtained and used these products to immediately stop using them, and call a physician to request a blood-lead test.

Re: Arabic Makeup.

i love arabic make up tooo anyone know a place in NYC where I can get it done? PM me :-)

Re: Arabic Makeup.

yeh I think it looks too much for everyday use, but for occasions it would look okay I guess

Re: Arabic Makeup.

you could just go to a MAC store with a photo and say you want to recreate that look. To me, it basically looks like smoky eyes, or smoky eyes done with a color, along with a nude peachy/pink lip with gloss.

Re: Arabic Makeup.

which one are u using?

Re: Arabic Makeup.

Aoa,
i use surma thats made by my aunt with its esp recepie.

Re: Arabic Makeup.

lol - dont we think we are a bit off topic here?

nevertheless, I agree with all those people who tend to like arabic make up. Their eye make up style is what enhances any bridal look. I wouldn't go for this look on a day to day basis for work or something but for bridal defintely..

I'd give all outsider Pakistanis living outiside of Pak - when you guys are struggling to find a good make up artist, whether it be indian/pak/fijian or gora MUA, do a trial with an Arab.. believe it or not you'll be surprised..

I recently got make up done from a lebanese as a trial and it was real nice - and am due to go for my first bridal trial with another lady soon :)
