It shouldn't matter, in fact, it shouldn't even be questioned. It only grants one the ability to blame the girls for their misfortune. We should be safe to walk outside at night if we want. An Islamic society should protect women so that we are able to do those things. Unfortunately, it seems that many societies seem to think that two women outside at night are loose women, and therefore deserve such treatment.

Well I agree with you and I dont think that those women were loose and they deserved that treatment. But if they know that people like those boys will be outside at night time and they(women) dont know any marshal arts then they should travel at day time or if night time then may be with a mahram. As Islam has recommended for women to travel with a mahram.
Things like this happens all the time in Pakistan but no one do anything to stop it. its a good thing that these guys were punished.

in places like Saudi Arabia, saudi school girls are turning to lesbianism, guys are turning gay or turning to harassing women like this

Well first of all, they must have been kids of some people who are connected to get the audacity to do this in public in Saudi Arabia. I lived in Saudi in the late 70s and 80s and I just visited again last year. I know things weren't good then and they are worse now. Yet public attacks such as this are as rare as a teenage girl remaining a virgin in the US.
Also those who think 15 lashes are not enough, try getting one and then tell us if you still want the rest of the 14 to correct your mind.
And no I am not speaking from experience.

This case became really famous in saudi, & the guys were saudi nationals, 1 was yemeni. This was stated in an article in arabnews.com. As far as my arabic is concerned, the guys are talking bout sex xplicitly. They wanted to capture it & be famous in their group. The place is riyadh. Anyway, all said & done, you cannot generalize the entire nation coz of some pigs.
The most important fact that lajjo stated here is that a virtue police shud Xist in Pakistan & that for a fact is quite true & it shud carry out the same punishments so that our state doesnt get morally corrupt.
