The word antisemitic (antisemitisch in German) was first used in 1860 by the Austrian Jewish scholar Moritz Steinschneider in the phrase "antisemitic prejudices" (German: "antisemitische Vorurteile"). Steinschneider used this phrase to characterize Ernest Renan's ideas about how "Semitic races" were inferior to "Aryan races."

Semetic means descendants of Shem.

Shem's people are people from the middle east who are Arabs, Jews, Turks, Persians....

Just to clarify, Turks are not semitic. Though they're mixed with Arabs a lot, Persians are not semitic either.

There are plenty of stories in Western media that sympathize with Palestinian causes, issues and people. Heck, in most western countries, a majority of stories can be classified as 'pro-Palestinian. Are there *any *Arab media that do the same for the Israeli cause? If so, I'd like to see it. And, if so, I am sure it is a small, small minority. So that would mean Arab media is FAR ahead in propaganda, wouldn't it?

This is a classic example of pot calling kettle black. US and Canadian main stream media for years have been anti-muslim, anti-arab and it has been expected as a fact. IRA can transform from a terrorist organization to political party but Hamas and Hezballah can't. The much hated NY times reporter Judy Miller ran breifings from pentagon as actual reporting prior to Iraq war touting administrarion claims to WMD and thus convinicing liberal population of Iraq war where was objectivity in this? Anyone who criticize Israel automatically is labelled as anti-semite. There is difference btween cricticizing Israel and being anti-semitic and if you can't see the difference then I feel sorry for u.
