Victory from Shark's Jaw ?? Hello ??? How many teams have chased 400+ runs in the history to win test matches. Steve Waugh was not a fool when he set a target of 400+ runs. He knew it very well that WI cant chase 403.

Yeah, hello. Indeed, Aussies grabbed the victory from Shark's jaws. Like it or not, that's how I viewed it. If you have watched the game LIVE or even hightlights, you must have convinced the way Lara and Sarwan started off the day, it never looked impossible to acheieve the target.

In the end, it's all about Aussies.

(BBC SPORT | Cricket | WI v Aus 2003 | Gayle earns recall)

West Indies selectors have named their 14-man squad for the third Test against Australia in Barbados which begins on 1 May.
The West Indies trail 2-0 in the four-match series having lost the first Test in Georgetown by nine wickets and the second in Port of Spain by 118 runs.

Opener Chris Gayle is recalled in place of Wavell Hinds while bowler Pedro Collins and allrounder Bernard drop out.

Collins took only one wicket for 253 runs in the first two tests while Bernard made his debut in the second Test.

Gayle was controversially axed before the series after he played in an international double-wicket tournament in St. Lucia rather than for Jamaica in the final of the West Indies domestic tournament.

He has played 28 tests since his debut in 1999 against Zimbabwe in Trinidad, scoring two centuries, including a best of 204 against New Zealand.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul returns to the squad after a knee complaint while Ridley Jacobs has recovered from a groin strain and Jermaine Lawson has overcome chicken pox to take their places.

My approach in the remaining matches will be very positive," said Windies skipper Brian Lara.

"I am very optimistic about our batting in the remaining matches but in the bowling we need to do some work to limit the Australians.

"In the next Test, we will have more options and we should not get too carried away. We are playing against the best team in the world and trying too much could be a problem.

“One of things we do not want is to lose the next Test match; if we can get a draw it would be great, so we need to be careful who we select in the next match.”

West Indies squad: Brian Lara (captain), Ramnaresh Sarwan (vice-captain), Omari Banks, Carlton Baugh, Tino Best, Shivnarine Chanderpaul , Mervyn Dillon, Vasbert Drakes, Daren Ganga, Chris Gayle, Ridley Jacobs, Jermaine Lawson, Marlon Samuels, Devon Smith.

i'm surprised at the number of centuries scored in this series so far

8 (or 7?)

in only 2 tests!

Good for West Indies. Their bowling attack is weak. All they can depend on is to have strong batting line up against Lee, Gillispe and McGrath. Return of Chris Gayle and Shivnarine Chanderpaul in the 3rd Test Match squad is a good sign. Also, Jermaine Lawson, who couldn’t play in the 2nd Test 'cause of chicken pox is back as well.

It looks as if the level and standard of Cricket should improve for the Third Test with both sides getting players back into their sides but I think Glenn’s return could spark a bit of attention. I wonder who’s place is he gonna take?

Aussies 6-wicket victory in a warm-up match.

Justin Langer gets on top of the West Indies bowlers

Ricky Ponting punishes

West Indies after winning the toss, elected to field first. Lara must be thinking about couple of breakthroughs before lunch on Barbados pitch. Unwise decision. Nothing worked out as Lara thought, however, Caribbean boys got the wicket of Hayden, who again went off cheaply. Justin Langer and Ricky Pointing took charge and played some good shots all over the ground. It was sad to see, as Pointing got himself run out. There was no need for run. Also, the day was going to be end. Anyway pal, good inning of 113 runs. Poor fielding from West Indies still remains as Caribbean Boys let Langer to survived twice.

Darren Lehmann on 89 N.O. as usual, stick around and is on crease along with Steve Waugh.

With the way their batsman are going its tough to see how Martyn will fit in this once he comes backs.
Since they don't have Warne anymore, McGill will be there definitly, the other 4 fast bowlers are top of their game.

**Australia declare at 605-9 in first innings **](http://www.cricketnext.com/news1/next/reutersmay03/reuters010.htm)

Australia captain Steve Waugh struck his 30th test century and became the second-highest scorer in test history as he declared at 605 for nine in the first innings in the third test against West Indies on Friday.

Fast bowler Andy Bichel also hit his maiden test 50 as West Indies were given a mountain to climb after winning the toss and putting Australia in to bat on Thursday.

Waugh, producing a typically solid and patient innings that included eight fours, took 314 minutes and faced 233 balls before swinging wildly at a Jermaine Lawson delivery and losing his off stump on 115.

Bichel made his first test half century as he produced a big-hitting 71 before being caught by Brian Lara at mid-wicket off an Omari Banks full toss.

3rd Test Match - DAY 2

Unbelieveable stuff. 605/9 in two days. Man, Aussies have screwed West Indies. Lara paid the price by chosing to field first. Thanks very much, Brian! as Justin Langer concluded.

[thumb=B]swaugh.JPG[/thumb]

Steve Waugh plays on!

Steve Waugh scored his 30th Test Century as he passed the record of Sir Don Bradman. Also, Steve Waugh became the second highest run scorer in Test history. What a Champ! :k:

[thumb=B]lehmann.JPG[/thumb]

Darren Lehmann watches the ball goes by down the leg-side.

Sadly, Darren Lehmann fell short of just 4 runs before getting his century done. :frowning: Jermaine Lawson was about to have a hat-trick as Steve Waugh declared the Austrilian inning on 605 for 9. Nice move, Waugh.

[thumb=B]adam.JPG[/thumb]

Adam Gilchrist smashes a boundary.

Andy Bichel, Adam Gilchrist contributed very well. At stumps, West Indies are at 89 without a loss, trail by 516 runs. Long way to go.

That’s great news :k:
I remember the series in 1999, when the one day series came down to the wire 4-3. I predict for something similar to occur again.. can’t wait.

I really doubt it, with the ongoing test series being absolutly one sided, it is almost impossible to see West Indies even winning one of the 7 one dayers.

This is the best I have seen the Aussies, though their bowling is still weak but imagine, if they had Warne and McGrath at the sametine, Windies had no chance.

I doubt that, I would have to agree with Peoples Champ I think the ODI is going to be totally different from the Test.

When you play the Aussies, they not only beat you but they you so bad that you are scarred for atleast couple months. Take teams like Pakistan or South Africa for example, when Pakistan toured Australia in 99/00 they lost the test series 3-0 and they came home, lost to Sri Lanka badly, then they lost to England at home, then lost NZ in New Zealand in a similiar fashion and kept losing till the scars healed and then they met Ausssies last year after another 3-0 whitewash, they were humiliated in South Africa.

Similiar thing happen to South Africa, not only they were beaten in Australia 3-0 but they were beaten badly, players like Donald and Rhodes retired and went on to lose the test series at home.

Some poor fielding by Westindies in the match...
many drop catches!...

I dont think it's fair to compar this West Indies team with 1999 one, That team had two world class fast bowlers in Ambrose and Walsh. This team's bowling attack is weak.

That said - I think ODIs are going to be much competitive because WI batting line is very strong.
