It may sound strange, but I believe if Nawaz Sharif does carry out his threat and boycott the elections, it will have been as part of some sort of deal with the establishment (re Musharraf). After all most of his potential votes will go to the PML Q by default, especially in Punjab, and PPP will be the big loser of this. People must have noticed how his return to Pakistan has been rather muted, and his overall impact on events almost zero - all perfectly staged?

Ah. Looks like Nawz and Qazi use '707' sabun, whereas Imran and others used 'Burq'. :)

Boycott of the elections can only work if it is unanimous by all major political parties. Since BB and Maulana Diesel (and MQM) are already competing in the elections, so APDM boycott just hands over all power to those groups. Personally I think its a wrong decision. Hopefully emergency will be lifted by Dec 16, as promised. Complete free and fair elections in Pak is just a pipe dream. Still, every one should compete in the elections. I read Ayaz Amir's article in Dawn in which he said that if they participate in the elections then they give legitimacy to Mushy and play in his hands. Well, yeah but partial boycott doesn't get you anything. If they participate in the elections, do well in them, then they have many more options to "fix" the system. By boycott , they are locking themselves out from any worthwhile role in the government till the next election.

And lastly, NS and IK will do well to stay away from JI. Its a bunch of losers who have not done anything in the last 50 yrs from an electoral results stand-point. Stay away from them. NS is wasting whatever public support he has by aligning with the goons of JI.

but there are still 26 political parties that are in pAPaDuM, thats a majority.
