my husband's ancestor around the war of independence 1857 was sikh. then his son( one of many) became Muslim whose descendant are the family of my mom. chughtais.

but very interesting story

i also have family members who converted from hinduism to islam for example

my great nana abboe his second wife (first one died)
her father was converted from Hinduism to Islam and the
family did poisin (snake poison) him but he survived and after partiion the family went back to India he stayed in pakistan and married a Muslim woman.

But the effect of the poison is still visible on his (who converted) great grandchildren because they have huge blisters under their feet. ...the effect of poison :)

my moms family also has weird stories of killings and murder. my mamoo made a whole family tree starting from 1857...that i have. and since its my kids family tree now so i have it too but not with me .......its in pakistan in locker. :)

so chughtai..they also say mughal with it. whats that story? do u know. i did not know its a title given to soldiers.
