Re: Anxiety and Depression...
What's your perspective again?
this excerpt just talks about general statistics of depression in US. It is my understanding you're concerned these statistics may roll over in Pakistan. Currently, you don't think Pakistani population, if accurately assessed, would come pretty close to these statistics? 1 in 10?
I believe that problem of anxiety and depression is consequence (side effect) of following modern social and economic systems, somewhat same is implied with an expert opinion in the article that it is a product of American civilization (Modern Civilization). People who born and brought up in those modern societies may not realize the cause of problem easily but the people who has not been part of modern societies but now are "adapting" to those societies may realize the cause of the problem.
Yeah, i am concerned and so should everyone IMO. As world is changing each passing day and this change has deep impact on the social, economic, and political realities. Despite we get the benefits of thinking and learning from this dynamic behavior of the world, there are so many conflicts of human rights, differences of poor and rich and so on... I think this is the high time to think about whether the current world could turn into a peaceful world, but that does not mean we should go back to stone-age.
For your point regarding Pakistanis, if you assess urban area only, then you might get somewhat similar statistics but rural area is a different case, people of rural areas are much more happy and content then people living in urban areas.
P.S. This is just what I think, maybe I’m wrong on this.
