Not true UTD. I heard the Kerry campaign spokeman. The quote was pretty close to the following: "If they air that program, they had better hope we don't win the election." It was a pretty clear and implicit threat to have the FCC start an investigation or proceding against Sinclair if Kerry got elected.

And he was asked immediately after he said that if that was a threat and he said "No, What we're saying is what they're doing is wrong. Everybody knows it. And they have a lot of people that are very upset. I think you'll see a lot of protests. You're already seeing a lot of calls."

myvoice, you saidPoint is, this happens on both ways, and is not something limited to left or the right. Right now, we are in the final stages of a very close election. So, Sinclair's original intention of airing a rabid anti-Kerry documentary, and Kerry campaign's reaction is all motivated by elections. No point in pointing fingers at one or the other. This is how this game is played anyway.

Faisal: It is the way the game is played. I agree. All except for the threat of retaliation by a Kerry administration.
I brought up the Liberal hue and cry about censorship for a reason though. We centrist, slightly conservative GOP people have a far better understanding and grasp of the First Amendment than the Liberals. You don't hear me yelling "censorship" or "violation of the first Amendment" about these boycotts to persuade Sinclair not to air the film. That's all I heard from Liberals when similar tactics were employed by conservatives to protest the airing of the Reagan film. People have a right to free speech and other people have a right to respond accordingly. You can speak but there are consequences to your speech. Liberals don't like to accept the consequences of their speech and claim foul when the consequences come.
UTD:
That's like a guy threatening to kill someone and then when asked whether that is a threat saying "Oh no. It's just that what you are doing is wrong and people don't like it." A threat is a threat. The Kerry spokesman making the threat and then trying to soften it just shows that the spokesman has learned the Kerry flip-flop exceedingly well.
If Kerry gets elected the FCC will be reviewed and changes made in it's members (Powell Jr. on the outs) and made sure that they enforce the laws, that is what was meant.

That makes about as much sense as Kerry's explanation of how he voted against the $87 billion supplemental military appropriations bill only after he voted for it.
What gets me is why can't Kerry supporters just admit that Kerry is a flip-flopping, poll-watching, two-faced, Liberal-to-the-core opportunist who they just happen to think would make a better President than Bush. Instead, they go through these twisted machinations and end up looking like an empty-headed pretzel.
Now that he's out of office, many Clinton loyalists admit that he was a lieing, perjuring, sexual predator although maintaining that he was a good President.
Heck, I've got no problem admitting that Bush is a stubborn, not so bright, linguistically challenged, silver spoon-fed fellow who has pandered to the conservative right by claiming to support them on many social issues. That said, IMO, he's the right man at the right time to lead our country.
mv unofficial unpaid campaign worker for Bush/Cheney 2004. He should have used his talent and his energy in return for few bucks. Too bad he takes so much of his time to post threads on a freaking Pakistani message board where no one really gives a damn what he has to say in favor of his political party.

Sinclair should be investigated.
The seemingly Joseph Goebbels attitude toward broadcast outlets they control.
I’ve had signs in my car windows for over a month - “John F. Kerry: Lying Traitor or Admitted War Criminal?” I expected to get quite a few “one-fingered salutes”. However, I’ve been pleasantly suprised that I’ve only had 1 thumbs down! I have had well over 100 thumbs up! I’ve actually had quite a few honk to make sure we knew that they approved! It’s been quite refreshing!

I guess you live in a town where there are nothing but rednecks. So in which trailer you live in?

So sorry to disappoint you, AS! I reside in a very nice home built in 1924. Original owners up to about 15 years ago! All original oak woodwork, including 9" crown molding! Furnished with antiques, most of which have been in the family for over 100 years!
Actually, in my part of the world the liberals are the one's living in trailers! And the signs were in my Ford Focus, not my Cadillac!
In addition, I own no clothing promoting any company, product, or sports team! And, I don't own a baseball cap, although I do have several Fedoras!
No I don’t live in any lala land otherwise I would not be posting in world affairs pissed off posts about Bush a** kissers like you. I would be rather on café section flirting with some 19-year-old girl who actually turns out to be 40-year-old housewife. :)
