Why do we go on bended knees and lick their boots? - Mahesh Bhatt to Indians

Why do we go on bended knees and lick their boots?

*I believe that no one can insult you without your permission. Shilpa Shetty has paid the price for trying to desperately seek the approval of the West. It is pathetic how we go on bended knees and lick the boots of Westerners in an effort to be part of their world. Every year we parade ourselves at the Oscars or try to break into Hollywood films, hoping against hope that we will be welcome there. We want their money and they do give it to us, but at what cost? Stereotypes and racism abound in the West. The comments against Shilpa on prime-time television reveal the racist streak of British society. *What is even more shocking is the realisation that reality TV will go to any length to attract more viewers. The West is an open society with a closed mind, which has a condescending and patronising attitude towards Indians. But, we refuse to learn our lessons and keep the West as our yardstick for success. The common man has always been at the receiving end of such high-handedness. It is for the first time that an Indian celebrity has been thrown in a hostile environment and has encountered racial slurs. Call it an occupational hazard, if you must. It may not be a fair world, but it is up to us to retain our dignity. It is high time we stopped the West from walking all over us.

Re: Why do we go on bended knees and lick their boots? - Mahesh Bhatt to Indians

mahesh bhatt needs to:

a) stop copying western movies shamelessly for one..... and
b) stop using dead women like parveen bobby and models etc for publicity of his movies when he's out of all ideas.

and THEN we'll talk about shilpa.

Re: Why do we go on bended knees and lick their boots? - Mahesh Bhatt to Indians

Problem with Indian indians (not NRIs who have experienced the racism first hand) is that they believe they are equals. To many westerners, India is a land of dirt, filth, abject poverty which is disgusting. Shilpa’s treatment is a good reflection how indians are viewed by the westerners. The call center staffers are treated the same way; some of the staffer break down in tears when brits refuse to talk to an indian. Anyone remember Brad and Angelina’s bodyguards manhandling people in Pune?

Indians love to point out how ‘pakis’ are trouble making mullahs. Well, reality ( or reality tv :hehe: ) hits them smack in the face that they are treated no better.

Re: Why do we go on bended knees and lick their boots? - Mahesh Bhatt to Indians

^ and this is amusing to you because?

kindly avoid insults.

Re: Anti-Indian Racism

Vinesh the reason every brown person in Britain is called a Paki is because we were the first major brown immigrants in this country.

My Puerto Rican (Muslim) friend is a "Paki" to most whites we know unless they're told, and everyone from Western Sahara (North Africa) to Bangladesh (South Asia) is definately a Paki no matter what, you can say you're Egyptian, Yemeni, Gujarati or Sikh till you go blue in the face (well it'll be maroon in the case of our Indian brothers) but to them you're a "Paki".

Trust me it's not nice having our label being used for certain races, sometimes if I point out all the Pakis and the Indians they can judge by "handsomeness levels" that Pakis are the handsome ones whilst Indians are the eunuch types.

They know very well she's from India, they've made plenty of comments about Indians being skinny and undernourished, so they're not completely ignorant.

it's no good !

Re: Anti-Indian Racism

Mercenary that’s very true, Indians always try warming up to whites with plenty of arse licking (they’ll rock their pendulum heads from side to side and drink with them till the cows come home) but they always get the cold shoulder, this is nothing new it’s been happening since the days of British rule over South Asia when Hindus would go to great lengths to please their masters and be accepted by them whereas we Muslims having had a very regal past have always been very narcissist and have some backbone and couldn’t really care less what anyone thinks of us.

There’s a South Indian Catholic I work with and he’s always try to get up their with the goray, he keeps saying “I em Kaathlic u know, I em Karishtian” to them, as if common religion will make him a part of them, I keep telling him these people don’t care about religion man, you’re a foreigner to them, you’re as black as the ace of spades. The other day a gora was telling me how the Indian was saying “all Muslim Pakistani peepal should be shaat in the head”, obviously this was another ploy on the part of the Indian to warm up to the whites by emphasizing common enmity, the goray hate him more than they’ll hate any Muslim though because of his Dravidian looks whereas a lot of Pakis can pass for Mediterranean, poor lad he is bullied so badly, I can’t help feeling sorry for him though partly because he’s always “bhai bhai” to my face and partly because he’s a fellow South Asian.

Pakis are definately hated by whites but they hate us due to fear (sort of like badboy/badmash fear mixed with lust/envy) whereas they hate Indians because they despise them.

Having said that we can’t be Anti-Indian infront of goray just because Indians are like that towards us, because at the end of the day they’re fellow South Asians, trust me I myself hate Indians when they hate us but we have to be united in front of foreigners even if we have personal feuds, even if they don’t look like us at least we’ve got the same culture and language (because they adopted our language, Hindi/Sanskrit have their roots in Pakistan and were brought to South Asia by our Aryan ancestors, their Dravidian ancestors just adopted it and are now spreading it to fellow Dravidians in Tamil Nadu, Kerala etc.).

Re: Why do we go on bended knees and lick their boots? - Mahesh Bhatt to Indians

It’s as entertaining as a barber milking you. What’s even more entertaining is when indians are spreading their arms and are being frisked at the airports. They should recite then, ‘oh we are not them moose limbs’. :hehe:

It’s not just amusing. It’s hillarious!

Re: Anti-Indian Racism

sigh, what a thread...

Re: Anti-Indian Racism

we dont need to get the approval for our progress from anyone. better mind ur own business.

Re: Why do we go on bended knees and lick their boots? - Mahesh Bhatt to Indians

Several Indian newspapers condemned the "racist jibes" thrown at the Bollywood star but said the country should examine its own prejudices before expressing national outrage.

"Discrimination on the basis of colour is ingrained in the psyche of most Indians," The Hindustan Times said.

Many of India's one billion people still live within a hierarchy imposed by the Hindu caste system and Muslims face widespread prejudice, being seen as the enemy within since Islamic Pakistan was carved out of British-ruled India.

Indian TV channels have shown continuous footage of the show, in which one housemate has said she was scared to eat food prepared by Shetty because, "you don't know where those hands have been", and another referred to her as ?The Indian".

Re: Anti-Indian Racism

tsk tsk...Now we are even.

Re: Why do we go on bended knees and lick their boots? - Mahesh Bhatt to Indians

 And you have the audacity to complain about the racism and superior attitude of others?

If Indians were part of a global terror network that attacked the west and Pakistanis were frisked at airports for looking like Indians, would that be equally entertaining and hilarious?

Re: Anti-Indian Racism / Mahesh Bhatt [Merged]

Ok ok that was uncalled for, I don’t hate all whites and I don’t really think they’re all ugly, a pretty blonde I was talking to today certainly wasn’t  but you guys have no idea how frustrating and angering it can be to constantly be bombarded with hate/venom (not at me personally but at my people: Desis/and or Muslims), it makes one hate in return, as a defense mechanism more than anything else..

I don’t really hate any humanbeing, only those that hate me and the things I hold dear.. If it were upto me everyone in the world would get on with each other but the world’s not a perfect place and we’re pack animals and need belonging so we have to group ourselves.. :frowning:

Re: Why do we go on bended knees and lick their boots? - Mahesh Bhatt to Indians

actually we are under the sword these days at the airports not the indians … :-p

Re: Anti-Indian Racism / Mahesh Bhatt [Merged]

Don't you think making groups will lead to separation and therefore more racism? What other alternatives do we have to maintain respect for each other?

Re: Why do we go on bended knees and lick their boots? - Mahesh Bhatt to Indians

True about the call center staff, I’ve had so many goray say how much they hate the “ignorant uneducated” call center staff and they ask for someone who can speak English, it sends me fuming but they say “you’re Pakistani, you’re different”, I know I shouldn’t burn my blood for Indians because they hate us but you can’t help it, it’s like with ignorant comments about pag (turban) and kesh (uncut hair) against Sikhs, really piss me off even though Sikhs hate us Pakistanis more than anyone, especially Pathans (and I’m part Pathan) but you just can’t help it.

I wish Indians had a bit more of a backbone, material success is not everything, you have to live with honour.. When my papa first came to this country he only had a Pakistani education so whilst he was still studying in this country he did part time factory work, one day his gaffer tells him to leave his work and wash their pots, they were use to the Indian who worked their before him wagging his tail and doing as they asked, my dad just turned around and told them “look pal, I’m no servant, I’ll do what I get paid for but I’ll have you know that I’m no indian, I’m a Pakistani so if you’ve got the idea that you can push me around you’d best think again”, shut the bloody gaffer right up and he apologised, my dad says he were sound as a pound after that.

Re: Anti-Indian Racism / Mahesh Bhatt [Merged]

True, some Pakis are like totally cut off from society and that's no good to us but like I said it's human nature, it's our instinct to look towards "our" pack for comfort, belonging, security in the face of hostility/agression..

We should become a part of the wider society but not the way Indians go about trying to do it, not at the expense of our honour, can't really "haan mein haan milaa" can we?

It's not hard really, you respect me and I'll respect you, a lot of white people have a hard time trying to get that in their heads, it's like they'll trash our religion/culture in the name of "freedom of speech", freedom of speech is fair enough but they need to understand that their right to swing their fists stops where our noses start, and I admit we have big noses but hey..

Re: Anti-Indian Racism / Mahesh Bhatt [Merged]

surely we can not be happy at anyone being treated in a racist manner. remember the golden rule folks.

molto grazie

Re: Anti-Indian Racism / Mahesh Bhatt [Merged]

So, it's ok for us to equate Indians to servants and mailas but not for goras? We should be consistent in what we expect and what we dish out, shouldn't we?
