Some of these have nothing to do with them being "jihil" or from "pind". Although I can understand your concern/pain but calling someone from small place plain jahil simply does not cut it. It in fact just raises the question about the person raising the question. Degress/Grades does not make anyone jahil or educated. Its they way someone think, talk, communicate and carry themself make them jahil or educated. Sorry but they way you have posted this, just tells me you think they are "jahil coz they care coming from these poor small places"
For your husband's parents, they really dont need any "excuse" to visit your (or their Son's place). Rirght that they should not do that quite often and stay for long and your husband is the right person to talk to. Talk to him. For extended family, you should definately talk to your husband and convey your feelings. To understand this, you have to understand the culture. Its quite common in Pakistan that relatives look for help towards the person of family who has moved to city and is in better position to help. I personally dont have any experiece like this as I am from what you call a "big" city and nor from a "poor pind" but I know how it goes there.
In the hindsight you really have problem with In-laws and not with their "jahalat" or anything else. if you were in NY and your in-lawas were visiting from ISB, I am sure you will still find out some "jahil" side of theirs (such as ... yee aap kee ammi itney dark color shilwar qameez penhentee heen, why cant she wear trouser?)
Having said all this, you should absolutely not be responsible for cooking for whole visiting families and your husband should take care of it (by any means that is). I am just wondering if you have even talked to your hubby of just spitting out anger here??
She knows she cannot talk to her husband , his family or anybody about it that is why she is venting here.
The value set where she is different than where you are . If she could get rid of all these problems she would have done it years ago.
The way she wrote it all is funny and it was done for all its shock value and to put an smile at some faces.
