Basically what I have gathered from the OP is that Muslims should shun parts of their book which propagate violence. I agree with pisiform that most of the quoted ayahs have been taken out of context. Why do people conveniently forget that Islam was there before 79 too but why weren’t Muslims not chopping the heads of people? Who helped create these extremists and why?

And so the blame game begins. Unless the countries involved take full responsibility for creating these monsters, nothing will get resolved. Everyone keeps pushing the problem around and nothing gets resolved. Everyone is in denial and no one is ready to tackle this with complete seriousness.
