An open letter to Ben Affleck from a Pakistani woman

Re: An open letter to Ben Affleck from a Pakistani woman

  1. Are you an official spokesperson of ‘The Ben’???

  2. Have you just called me a BIGOT???

Now where are the admins of those forum??? Do they see this post this gay/guy/whatever calling me a BIGOT for NO REASON??? Did you see this before sending me a warning for God knows what?

Re: An open letter to Ben Affleck from a Pakistani woman

Wow.

Re: An open letter to Ben Affleck from a Pakistani woman

This NONMUSLIM Pakistani woman sure does NOT represent the sentiments of MUSLIM Pakistani women. Even on these forums, this letter is posted by a self proclaimed atheist. So, to me, it is not worthy anymore time.

Re: An open letter to Ben Affleck from a Pakistani woman

..

Re: An open letter to Ben Affleck from a Pakistani woman

and i thought shamraz has atlast shared some thing in support of islam. :frowning:

her twitter tells much about her islamophobia.

Re: An open letter to Ben Affleck from a Pakistani woman

Stop trying to kill the messenger by issuing your fatwas & if you’re incapable of participating in civil debates don’t. Also, my faith, or lack of it, is not issue here for debate nor has anyone appointed you as a spokesperson for Muslim/Pakistani women. Thank you.

Re: An open letter to Ben Affleck from a Pakistani woman

One could argue that they were nice despite religion.

Re: An open letter to Ben Affleck from a Pakistani woman

I’m sorry, but I did not express my support for or against this lady’s opinion. Her opinion are no more valid or invalid than yours on mine, but points raised by her are valid. You cannot deny that.

Re: An open letter to Ben Affleck from a Pakistani woman

The lady wrote a book that was sympathetic to those of an alternate lifestyle. Is pro tolerance synonymous with Islamophobia?

Corollary : does one have to be against a certain lifestyle in order to be called a good muslim?

Question: Can one be a tolerant person AND a good muslim?
Answer: yes

Re: An open letter to Ben Affleck from a Pakistani woman

Did i even mentioned her book?

and islam bashing without knwoledge can not be termed as pro tolerence.

Shamraz, i dont think so she has a valid point. This difference between us is becuase how we interpret islam.

Re: An open letter to Ben Affleck from a Pakistani woman

Had a senior moment there. The auto correct changed “open letter” to book.

Anyway my post, with this edit, still stands somewhere in the ether.

Re: An open letter to Ben Affleck from a Pakistani woman

Really? Lets take example where she argues that Saudis would not allowed non muslims to build their churches or temples, yet they spend billions of dollar funding and building mosques all over non muslims countries. You don’t think that is a valid point?

Re: An open letter to Ben Affleck from a Pakistani woman

How is being pro equality Islam bashing? The questions in my previous post, with book replaced by open letter, await your response.

Re: An open letter to Ben Affleck from a Pakistani woman

  1. So a Pakistani atheist believes a Pakistani woman who has left Islam deserves to be the spokesperson of all the MUSLIM Pakistani women but a MUSLIM Pakistani woman who says in an OPEN PUBLIC POST that the OPEN letter of that NONMUSLIM Pakistani women does NOT represent the sentiments of Pakistani women who are majority MUSLIM has no right to express her views??? So what gives you the right to stop me to express my views? Being an admin of these forums? The reason Im posting here is because it is a PAKISTANI forum. But if you agree with the woman and have yourself also left Islam then why representing PAKISTAN which is a majority MUSLIM country?

  2. I am not issuing fatwas as Im not a molvi. Im expressing my sentiments as a MUSLIM Pakistani woman but obviously, you dont like that.

  3. I REITERATE my views on this subject in this OPEN PUBLIC POST of mine to ALL THE READERS that THIS WOMAN HAS LEFT ISLAM AND DOES NOT EXPRESS THE SENTIMENTS OF MAJORITY MUSLIM PAKISTANI WOMEN. If any MUSLIM Pakistani woman does not agree with my views then she is most welcome to express just like I have here.

  4. Are you going to ban me now for writing this OPEN PUBLIC POST to the people of the world as a MUSLIM Pakistani woman???

Re: An open letter to Ben Affleck from a Pakistani woman

Right. For a nun and a Bishop who dedicated their life to a religion. Who have stated that religion is their motivation. But some people on line can argue otherwise. Of course.

Re: An open letter to Ben Affleck from a Pakistani woman

I don’t think this lady who wrote her complaint to Ben has ever been to or heard of the most Liberal Western Country on Earth…el France!

where they have banned head coverings for women

Re: An open letter to Ben Affleck from a Pakistani woman

Phunny letter.

Re: An open letter to Ben Affleck from a Pakistani woman

It’s unfair for Bill Maher to take a slice in time and target Muslims having ‘bad ideas’ - just 60 years ago black in America had what qadianis in pakistan may be going through now. Also, Bill doesn’t cut the same slack to Muslims that he does to zionists. Just because christians now have achieved nirvana after centuries of bloodshed in dark/middle ages does not strip them off of having 'bad ideas. But the flip side to that is, there is no inquisition going on in modern times when it comes to chrisitanity. No sacraments and from the looks of it, and pope Francis is doing awesome things that Christians couldn’t have dreamed of in their lifetime.

Similarly, blacks are a lot better in American now compared to 60 years ago. That did not happen in a vacuum. People fought for their rights, they fought for equality, they shed blood. Not that blacks are not still being marginalized but they are definitely a lot better off – there are dialogues that happen every time there is police brutality or voter id laws or prison population and how most of the black kids are imprisoned due to unfair, nonsensical drug-on-war laws…but most important thing is that THERE IS A DIALOGUE OR THERE IS A CONVERSATION that happens every time there is controversy. Be it gays in army, pot, blacks, latinos, what not. This is just a society we are talking about. The point of the author is that we don’t have societies where conversation can occur because people get killed over holding opposing views. All religions have ‘bad ideas’ but question is, who has gotten rid of most of those and who still live in the dust of the history. So may be we are not nuttier, we are only a century behind. May be we’ll have a qadiani prime minister 60 years from now. But we can’t have that until we let voices like the author’s risen without fear or persecution.

You don’t like gays, no one is asking you to. What they are asking you to defend the rights of the gays and those with whom you disagree with so they can disagree with you without fear of persecution.

Majority of the muslim world view sharia laws as something they should implement as part of justice system of their respective country. Sharia laws are full of ‘bad ideas’ when it comes to equality. Until there is a fearless conversation about the merits of such law and their place in modern world fascism will continue to rule our conscious when it comes to following religion.
