BRASILIA, Brazil, Jan 1 (Reuters) - Brazil on Thursday began fingerprinting and photographing U.S. visitors on orders of a judge who compared planned U.S. security controls on travelers from Brazil and other nations to Nazi horrors. Federal Judge Julier Sebastiao da Silva, furious at U.S. plans to fingerprint and photograph millions of visitors on entering the United States, ordered Brazil’s authorities do the same to U.S. citizens starting on Thursday.

“We’ve begun doing this,” said a Federal Police spokeswoman at Brazil’s Guarulhos International Airport in Sao Paulo. The judge’s order came after a Brazilian government citizen rights agency filed a complaint in federal court over the U.S. measure. …

So it’s so horrific and reminiscent of Nazi horror…he turns around and perpetrates his own Nazi horror I guess.

Tit for tat !!, huh? Yipee.

You’ve stupidly applauded this moronic gesture. You didn’t even bother to note its mindless and contradictory foolishness…only that yet another nose was thumbed in the direction of the U.S. Please, do better.

storch, thanks for your moronic post .. :D

Brazil....man first the WTO. Then Linux. Then the FTAA and now this. Forget China. Brazil is the new leader of the developing countries.

I think 'Great' Brazil has every right to feel upset with the US policy and they have the right to introduce full ID checks on US tourists.

Other countries should do so as well. After all like Blackzero said, countries should follow national interest.

I would have to agree with you. The same rules should be applied by all nations.

SAO PAULO, Brazil - Brazilian (news - web sites) police fingerprinted and photographed Americans arriving at Sao Paulo’s airport Thursday in response to new rules requiring the same for Brazilians entering the United States.

Federal Judge Julier Sebastiao da Silva ordered the measure Monday in response to the new U.S. anti-terror regulation requiring citizens from 27 nations, including Brazil, to be fingerprinted and photographed when entering America.

The U.S. anti-terror regulation takes effect Monday at all 115 airports handling international flights and 14 major seaports. It will allow instant checks on an immigrant’s or visitor’s criminal background.

On Wednesday, Brazil’s Foreign Ministry requested that Brazilians be removed from the U.S. list, saying Brazil would consider treating U.S. citizens the same way upon their arrival.

“At first, most of the Americans were angered at having to go through all this, but they were usually more understanding once they learned that Brazilians are subjected to the same treatment in the U.S.,” Wagner Castilho, press officer for the federal police in Sao Paulo, said of those arriving at Sao Paulo-Guarulhos International Airport.

The processing will continue as long as the judge’s order stands, he said.

Brazil also requires visas for U.S. citizens, in response to a similar requirement for Brazilians entering the United States.

At Rio de Janeiro’s Antonio Carlos Jobim International Airport, police said they were not ready to start fingerprinting Americans.

"At first, most of the Americans were angered at having to go through all this, but they were usually more understanding once they learned that Brazilians are subjected to the same treatment in the U.S.,"

It's good to see some American's accept they will not be treated any specially when they go abroad, and they are like all others from all over the world. :)
