Re: Alternative Fuels
Politics are very related to this. It is the reason the US isn't using more renewable resources. Dems and Rep are both responsible. It's all about money.
Govt needs to get off its butt and encourage alt energy. Cultivating algae for liquid fuel production is another innovation they aren't addressing.
Re: Alternative Fuels
Renewable energy seems to be the way forward for mankind. It is easy to make, store and consume. Do you see yourself driving a car run on renewable energy? Do you see it taking over oil and diesel as the primary source to run automobiles?
I think solar power is something that would work great in our region, esp in summers.

I correct my previous statement
politics surrounding the debate can stay, trash can go ![]()

They can run entire Karachi on solar energy for over 9 months, without loadshedding. We need to be more inventive in solving our problems.
Re: Alternative Fuels
You make that sound as if it’s a bad thing!
Seriously, the only problem with the way Brazil has done this is that they have leveled millions of acres of forest to do it, and that is just as wrong. By they way, any of you budding entrepreneurs have $2 mil sitting around getting dusty, here is a great little company.
For two mil in equity they will build you your own bio diesel plant. Today restaurants have to pay to dispose of used vegetable oil. This little plant takes the waste cooking oil and turns it into high grade diesel fuel. The plants are compact enough that they can be sited easily in industrial parks, and they only take a handful of employees to operate. Really very cool.
Re: Alternative Fuels
CNG does not qualify, as it depletes a natural reserve, and is not 'renewable'.

In that case, BIO GAS ![]()

Ok, I take that back.
ADB To Provide $3 Billion To Improve Pakistan’s Power, Water Systems
KARACHI -(Dow Jones)- The Asian Development Bank, or ADB, will provide $3 billion to Pakistan over the next three years to improve the country’s power and water infrastructure, a government statement said Thursday.
Peter Fedon, the Manila-based bank’s country director, made the commitment during a meeting in Islamabad with Liaquat Ali Jatoi, Pakistan’s minister for water and power, Pakistan’s Ministry of Water and Power said in a statement.
The statement quoted Fedon as saying that the ADB’s assistance will include $ 500 million for renewable energy development, $1.2 billion for power transmission enhancement, $800 million for water irrigation and $250 million for power distribution enhancement.
The rest of the money will be given for a number of technical assistance programs for capacity building and relevant studies, it added.
